Question

I want to make a myspace type website for my college friends. It would be for event planning and connecting with each other.

Can something like this be done in dreamweaver? Does it have all the tools necessary to do that?
I'd really like to get a site up by the end of the year.

thank you,
-Justin

It all depends upon how complicated you want it to be. I use Visual Studio
but you can also use Visual Web Developer which is a free download at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vwd/download/.

MS also have a product in development called Expression Web Developer which
is also available as a free download at
http://www.microsoft.com/products/expression/en/web_designer/default.mspx.
This will seriously challenge DW when it is finally released.

Hi Paul,

I was recently considering an attempt at a site in ASP.NET. A bad idea
using DW you reckon?
What would you recommend for ASP.NET development?

Regards
Nath.

Dreamwever would be fine for the layouts and providing you are building in
PHP, CF or ASP you could achieve most of the dynamic coding using it, but
you would also need to have a very good handle on hand coding for the
complicated functionality.

However if you plan to build the site in ASP.Net then forget about DW, other
than layout.

Why wouldn't it be? What special requirements would making a site for
MySpace impose?
