I'm a beginner at MySQL, though not a total beginner at databases. I have MySQL installed locally and running, and I have phpMyAdmin.
I'm editing this post because it's becoming clear that what I really need is a good tutorial on MySQL for beginners. Can anybody point me to one/some?
A book would be great, but I'm in Mexico and it would take too long to get here, unless it's an e-book.
Thanks very much in advance,

My book, "The Essential Guide to Dreamweaver CS4 with CSS, Ajax, and PHP", covers a lot of MySQL basics - certainly enough to get you up and running. It's available as an ebook through the friendsofED/Apress site.
The best book, bar none, on MySQL is "MySQL" (4th Edition) by Paul Dubois. Unfortunately, it's 1,200 pages and not available as an ebook, although it can be accessed through the Safari Online Library. In an ideal world, Paul would publish just the first 300 pages as a separate book, because that's all that most people need. I find Paul's book essential. So much so that I have bought all four editions as each new one came out.

Thanks very much, David Powers. Going to check those out now. Your video tutorial on setting up a development environment was very helpful already.
