new to dreamweaver - 2 questions

Hi there!

Im new to dreamweaver and wondered two things:

1. do you need to allow DW access to your documents and is there any negative implications of doing so?

2. can using the software ever affect the actual computer you are using (in terms of coding as a beginner etc)- I assume all actions I make are secure in the application?

many thanks!

    1. No DW does not need access to your documents folder, but it will need access to save your files somewhere on your computer.

    2. It's not malicious software, but if your computer is not powerful enough it could slow it down. You should check the system requirements for that ( https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/system-requirements.html ). And all the actions are in the application, but I'm not sure of the security you are expecting from an app like Dreamweaver.

    thanks Ben

my second question is regarding the coding. I have a new Imac sutdio so really good computer. It's reflects my anxiety I guess! I am cincerned that coding incorrectly in Dreaweaver  could actually affect the coding of my actual Imac (e.g. the coding incoprated into my IMac) -but I assume anyhitng you do in Dreamweaver stays in the system only and can never affect the outer computer?

I do have one more question: I am developing a commericial app but I dont have any idea of coding. woudl it be better to ask an expert to develop it (but I know ithat's costly) or can anyone pick up basic coding using dreamweaver?

    thanks so much

You may like this story about a web application created by a hobbyist using a low code editor called Wappler.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

Dreamweaver is no different than any other code editing software.  To use it, you need an administrative computer user profile to install & update software and save files on your hard drive.  No big deal.

Your operating system may ask for your permission to install the software.  Just say Yes.

    • Coding skills are essential.  How you code your site determines how well it performs in browsers & mobile devices.
    • Validate code often and fix reported errors.
    • Test the site in real browsers before you upload files to your server.
    • You should be fine.
