Hi all,

Am just starting out in web design and following some online tutorials to help me get the hang of things. The tutorials I have been looking at are based on CS3, but I have the most up to date version which has a few differences and was wondering if anyone could help me with a few. On the tutorial video with CS3 the guy applies a style to one of the data cells in a table which automatically creates a style, which he then applies to the rest of the cells just by selecting that style. But when I do this on the most recent version of Dreamweaver it does not automatically create a style and therefore I have gone through and manually changed the style in each data cell. I was wondering if there was something extra I needed to do to create a style? or if I had maybe missed something?

Hope this is clear enough for someone to help me

Sarah

CS3 is 10+ year old software and the methods described are equally outdated. Try to find tutorials that match your product version.  And do not use tables for web page layouts.

If you want to jump start your project, use one of the Starter Templates in DW.

Start with one of the Bootstrap Starter Templates.  You can customize responsive Bootstrap layouts however you wish.

First define your local site folder.  Example:  C:\MyTestSite by going to Site > New Site.

Next, go to File > New > Starter Templates.  Choose one of the Bootstrap Layouts.

After saving your newly created starter layout, DW will create Assets folders for you which can be seen in your Files Panel (F8).

You now have a working starter site to which you can add your own custom styles, scripts, images, backgrounds, colors, Typekit fonts, etc....  There's no limit to what you can do with Bootstrap layouts and a little imagination.

For more on working with Bootstrap's 12-box grid system, consult the online tutorials below.
