P7 Potter and Bailey problem with IE6

Participant ,

I used a P7 extension to bulid www.strettonkitchens.co.uk but I'm having difficulties understanding why it can be viewed perfectly in IE7 but not in IE6 !!!

In IE6 the right hand column doesn't display. Yet, it works fine in IE7. I'm stumped. Can you look at the code for me and work out what's wrong, please?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

I think Potter and Bailey is a template, right? I am not familiar with that
one, but have you tried the Project Seven forums? Especially on a weekend,
you might get noticed quicker over there.

Hi Mark,

Wrong forum :-)

Your User Guide contains support and contact information. Please post on
our newsgroup or send us an email. Your problem is explained in the
Bailey Potter user guide and relates to the CSS box model. Your right
column is, in fact, displayed, but has dropped below the left column.
That's because there is a box-model issue, likely the result of the
image you have in the right column being too wide.

Hi - yes, sorry for wrong forum but I have difficulty getting onto P7 forum - can't seem to access for some reason. Anyway, took advice and reduced width of pictures but it didn't work. However, I then increased the css width from 770 to 775 and this seems to have cured it. If anyone has IE6 still, can you check for me and confirm.

Cheers to all.

The three columns, in FF2, IE6 and IE7, are all a tad narrrower than the
dark grey bar above them. The resulting overhang by that top bar seems
to be the same in all three browsers so you must be on the right track!

Actually, that is the wrong approach. The columnwrapper must be 770px
wide. Your problem has to do with the italicized text on the page, which
triggers a rendering bug in IE6. There are several solutions you could
use, but so that we can track your issues, please use our support
system. If you cannot log on to our newsgroup simply send us an email.

Cheers again folks. I can see the overhang and it does look poor but I'll live with it for now seeing as I'm mad busy with other projects. However, I will email you Al through your site tonight. Cheers.
