As of right now there are only maintenance updates, no new features planned

I wonder why?  Adobe seems to focus on other CC apps: Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat but Dreamweaver seems neglected by comparison.  It is time Adobe lifted its game!

I've been using Dreamweaver over 20 years I totally get it. I would like to see more features added in the future, not counting on it.

Dreamweaver is way off the pace when it comes to modern web development in my opinion. Adobe dont appear to be focusing their efforts in the web editor market as there is too much competition and not enough of a financial return for a large company.  DW will exist for a few more years yet as a minor player web editor mainly for amatuers then l assume it will be EOLed once it becomes radically detached.

This forum and its former news group used to be a thriving community but over the years the activity has dwindled to next to nothing as DW gets less popular.  Dont forget we have editors like Wix, Weebly, Square Space, Wordpress, plus all the rest which have reduced the need for programs such as DW in recent years.

As others have stated here: DreamWeaver's lifecycle is coming to an end.

If you want a true update to a similar visual workflow that doesn't hide the coding part and rather supports the developer in speeding up development I would suggest a combination of Visual Studio Code (free) with Pinegrow (not free).

Pinegrow is in my opinion the spiritual modern updated offspring that DreamWeaver never had and includes a live link with Visual Studio Code.

Unfortunately this is very true when compared to the CC versions of Dreamweaver. Do you want what Dreamweaver should have been complete with server behaviours, then you cannot go past Wappler.

Wappler, the only real Dreamweaver alternative.

@Halws,

You said it yourself.  Adobe doesn't care much about coding tools.  You'll see snowballs in the Sahara when DW gets a face lift. In other words, not happening. Adobe's focus is on digital document management (Acrobat, Acrobat Sign, etc...), 2D & 3D design tools (XD, Substance 3D), and managing digital assets (Adobe Experience Manager).

I still use DW alongside other web development tools.  It works well for what I use it for.  But it can't do everything.  No development tool can.

I hope one day Adobe gets more interested in web design like they once were. Would love to see an Adobe pagebuilder for WordPress that has the typical Adobe UI as competition to Elementor or Guttenberg Blocks. Also a rebuilt from the Groundup Dreamweaver Pro that takes the best of Dw with modern code and modern features that works well for designers and coders.
