How can you get rid of this processing icon and the ruler in split view?
I'm using the latest Dreamweaver CC - Mac version

Thanks

Switch from Live to Design in the document toolbar.   If you don't see it, go to Window > Toolbars > Document.

I'm mostly viewing SVGs which can't be seen in Design view. Is there any way to disable and/or hide these things?

You can continue to work in Code view.  But to remove the ruler, you must be in Design, not Live.  Try it.

I can't view SVGs in Design mode and I use Dreamweaver mostly for that.

The processing icon is there all the time, spinning away. Is there a sync issue I'm not aware of?

As for the ruler why is it there anyway and why can't it be disabled?

I recently switched from PC to Mac. The PC version didn't have either of those features. I'm just curious why it's there in the Mac version.

SVG files do not render in Design View (even on PCs) in any version of DW CC. They only show as a broken image icon in Design View, however, switching to Live View will allow the built-in browser to give you an image as expected.

SVGs are not images in the usual sense. They're a page of code, very similar to HTML, that is rendered by the browser as an image. You can modify them manually in DW by opening the SVG in Code View.

As for the constant load icon, the only thing you're missing out on is a bit of text saying "Click the -goofy triangle icon- on the ruler to add a media query". You can get rid of the icon, but not the ruler by modifying your Common Toolbar so the Enable/Disable Visual Media Query bar icon is available. To do that...

1. Verify your Common (vertical only) toolbar is available by placing a check under Window > Toolbars > Common
2. Verify you are in Live View
3. If you do not see the 3 horizontal bar icon click the 3 dot icon
4. Place a check by "Show/Hide Visual Media Queries Bar"
4. Click Done
5. Click the VMQ icon to enable it

I can't hide the VMQ bar on a Mac. The button just doesn't work. I think it might be a bug!

To be clear, the ruler and triangle will never turn off in Live View. Toggling the button in the Common Toolbar will only turn off the area immediately above the ruler, where colored bars showing your page's media queries are supposed to show (you get a never ending load icon instead). Adobe hasn't given us a way to turn off the ruler, it has been asked for repeatedly.

It's not likely a true bug either, or the forums would be flooded with the issue, it's more likely a preference or installation corruption.

Have you tried any of the typical troubleshooting steps yet?

Clear DW's Cache File: Deleting a corrupted cache file

Restore Preferences: Unusual behavior in Dreamweaver? Try restoring preferences.

Reinstall Using the Cleaner Tool: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Both the rotating squares (some sort of process going on???) and the ruler are always on in the Mac version of Illustrator! Is there a way to hide these??? I'm working on SVG images and it shows up in BOTH the split view AND the live view! So annoying!

Have you looked for a setting in Preferences?  There _should_ be a way of turning this off.

PS.  Then, again, it's Adobe.. <sarcasm>and Adobe _always_ knows what's best for their customers.</sarcasm>
