Hi,
Can anyone help - Am new to web programming and have been
trying to to set up a testing server on my local machine, but I
just can't get there.
Symptoms:
When I test my connection I get "HTTP Error code 404 File not
found. Here are some possible reasons for the problem:
1) There is no testing server running on the server machine.
2) The testing server specified does not map to
http://localhost/somefolder/website/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php
URL. Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site."
This is what I'm running:
Windows XP Media Centre Version 5.1 Service Pack3
PHP 5
DreamweaverMX 2004
MySql 5
Apache HTTP Server 2.2
Mozilla Firefox
I have changed two lines in the Apache httpd config file to
point to my root folder - When I type
http://localhost/ in my web browser,
it takes to the home page I have set up. I think this means that my
Testing Server is set up correctly?
In the site definition wizard I have:
Local Info set up as follows -
Site name:Somesite
Local root folder: C:\Documents and
Settings\somefolder\....\somefolder\Website\ (This is the same as
what I put into the Apache httpd config file except \ = /)
"Refresh local file list automatically" is checked
Default images folder is empty
HTTP address: = http//localhost/somefolder/website/
Cache: is checked
Testing Server is set up as follows -
Server model: PHP MySql
Access: Local/Network
Testing server folder: C:\Documents and
Settings\somefolder\....\somefolder\Website\
refresh remote file list automatically is checked
URL prefix:
http://localhost/somefolder/Website/
I have looked through the posts on this forum and others but
I just can't get it.
I think dw defaults the testing server to the remote server
where you have one (I do - this connection tests successfully) but
where you want the testing server on your local machine the URL
prefix should be the same as the http address as per local info
(which it is)
I have even checked that the MMHTTPDB.php file exists in the
_mmServerScripts folder.
I am probably missing something really basic - Would be
really grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks
