The new upgrade to Adobe Dreamweaver causing problem with js linting

Community Beginner ,
May 14, 2025 May 14, 2025

This morning at 04:30 Tokyo time, Adobe Dreamweaver, without my permission, decided to download to award me an upgrade, which competely blocked js linting from working. I just get the message, 'ESLint terminated with error. Max connection attempts reached. I know the problem is with the upgrade because I removed Dreamweaver and downloaded the previous 2021 version and problem is no more. This is a 'heads up' to other users who might encounter the same problem and I'm also wanting to know, how I block the upgrade from downloading.

Thanks. Gary

Hi @rodenthead,

Thanks for writing to us and we apologize for the issue you are observing on your machine. While we investigate the issue internally, can you please try the workaround of launching Dw in Administrator mode and confirm if the issue gets resolved on your machine.

Have a pleasant day!

Regards,

Nayan

I am already Admin on my Mac, is there also a workaround for Apple Silicon Macs?

Thanks in advance,

To disable automatic updates, the setting isn't in DW, but in the CC Desktop App...

1. Open the Creative Cloud Desktop App
2. Click the Apps sidebar item on the left
3. Click the 3 dot icon on the right, next to "Installed Apps"
4. Disable auto updates

Thanks people for the replies. I'm sticking with the Dreamweaver v2021 for now and have, because of the info supplied here, blocked the auto upgrades.

Nayan, when you have fixed the bug, could you inform us on this thread. The problem only happens with js linting.

Hi @rodenthead,

Sure, we will update this thread once the issue is fixed. We would like to inform that the issue does not occur on all machines and hence can you please confirm if you have tried the suggested workaround to launch Dw with Administrator mode on your machine and the outcome of this workaround on your machine.

Have a pleasant day!

Thanks,

Nayan

No I didn't. I just 'binned' the DW v 2025 and downloaded the 2021 version, ensuring that I turned off auto uploads. Everything's back to normal and I'm happy.

Regards,

Gary.

I cannot open my Dreamweaver anymore. Prabably because I'm not on Sequoia. How did you download the anterior 2021 version? I don't find it...

Go to your Adobe Cloud accounts... Under Aplications, find Dreamweaver..... Delete the latest 2025 version... Find the three dots on Your DreamWeaver Application.... It will ask you if you want to upload the latest version or an older version.... Chose the 2021 version. Make sure you follow John and Nancy's posts on blocking automatic updates, otherwise the next time start DreamWeaver or open your Adobe Cloud account, it will automatically upgrade to the 2025 version.

quoteDelete the latest 2025 version...

========

There is no 2025 version of Dreamweaver.  The latest incremental release is 21.5.

Dreamweaver has been static since 2021.

The only love it receives are occasional security updates.

I had the same issue. Opening in Adiministrator mode solved the issue. Thanks!

Hello @Nayan_Kankariya ,

I am also experiencing the issue of JS linting no longer working in Dreamweaver, even as Administrator.

Since I hadn't found this thread and wasn't aware that Adobe knew about the problem, I figured that I'd do a clean install of Windows 11 to try to resolve the issue over the weekend. I have since tried to run as an administrator and still the JS linting functionality does not work for me.

I have attempted to toggle off and on Code Hints and Code Linting, while restarting Dreamweaver between toggling. I have not turned off auto updates, since I want to keep the Adobe apps up-to-date that I use and have installed.

Here are some of the basic computer specs, if that helps...
Windows 11 Home 64-bit, version 24H2, OS build 26100.4351
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor 4.50 GHz
nVidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB graphics card
64 GB RAM
15.46 TB total storage

Thanks!
Jonathan

Hello @Nayan_Kankariya ,

After a work day of using DW 21.6, I can confirm that JS linting appears to be working as intended, granted it was more PHP coding today than JS, but any JS generated had the code hinting associated to the code.

I am also happy to say that the daily crash of DW is no longer happening, since this update. I have a feeling that something with JS linting was causing a critical error with Windows 11, but I never took the time to get all of the full error logs and would just close DW right after opening it.

Thanks!

Jonathan
