I want a client, with no computer skills, to be able to drag and drop images onto a form (or browse to them where they are shown as thumbs), which then resizes the image, uploads it to a file on the server, (or vice-versa) and writes the full title path to a PHP/mySQL database field on the server.
I thought I had found what I want at the DMXzone site ( Pure PHP Upload 2, Smart Image Processor PHP 2 and the Advanced Multiple Uploader extensions) but it is such a messy site it is almost impossible to buy them, they are expensive and they have no free trial - I really didn't trust it.
Does anyone know about these extensions, or know of any others that would do what I want without weeks of hand coding. I have searched the web in vain apart from the above mentioned site.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use pure upload from dmxzone all the time and they have made me money as
they save me so much time. dmxzone do not have a trial as they do not need
it. dont forget with dmxzone pure upload you will also need dmxzone sip
which reduces the size of your image if required and apply water mark if
required. i have used them for 8 years and there support has got better and
there products have really helped me.

i am an asp user

Yes... thier web site is a disaster, but I have also been using extensions from there since MX, and they are good. Onc thing to note, If you have an issue try to work through them yourself as support is also very slow.

Thanks AnotherNonCoder. I have bitten the bullet and bought the extensions I need, and although it took a bit of working out (hardly lots of documentation) it works well.

! haven't personally found the support slow. I have posted three queries on the Uploader forum, one a few days ago and two today, and had almost instant replies. However they take a bit of interpreting. But then their English is a good deal better than my Bulgarian!

Thanks again to you both.

Hi Captain Slocum,
I am looking to create a form for an insurance company web site that would allow their clients to be able to upload a photo of a claim. You know... file out the claim form and insert a photo of your crashed bumper type of thing. Does the extension you bought from DMXzone perform that sort of function? Or do you know of a simple extension that might work that way. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I am having a hard time finding any such thing to use with Dreamweaver CS3. Thanks!

Hello Tony,

Yes, I am sure the extensions from DMXzone will do exactly what you want. Although there is little documentation and the web site is difficult, so far the extensions seem to work very well. You need two extensions - Smart Image Processor and Pure Upload (they do PHP and ASP versions), or three if you want to upload multiple images in one go (Advanced Multiple Uploader). I have built two content management systems already with them and they were very simple to use

However, if you do not need to resize the image, there are probably cheaper and simpler extensions that will do the trick - Web Assist probably has one. Or you could use a form to email application like Forms To Go which I use all the time. If you wanted the insurance company to get an email with a photo, that's probably the best thing to do. If they are going to have a private web page with the details on, you will need to set up a database that sends the details to the page and the DMXzone extensions would work well

I havn't tried using SIP with an email program - probably possible to use it to attach a resized image to an email but would need some modification.

Hope this helps, John
