Sometimes I just need to change a word. I just tried to open html in Text Edit (on Mac) and it seemed to then want to force save to rtfd, whatever that is so flummoxed! Thanks.

Others on list Nancy put have not tried... 7 listed, broswer base, don't think can edit, is one there where open a simple html page, not in a folder and add two words and save ok? easy
For BBEdit did you read the trial text?

When Dreamweaver plays up. it is usually due to coding errors. In this case, Dreamweaver seems to think that the html file is a rich text document.
If you want a better answer, then you need to provide details so that we can replicate the problem.

What does this have to do with Dreamweaver?

Thanks Nancy / Ben.
Ok will hold onto info! Good list
Nancy, text edit, why doing this? I'm on Mac.. Just really down / dirty you'd think would save to html again.. I have not tried Word yet...

Text edit is not a basic editor, it's meant to edit rich text files quickly unlike notepad on Windows. Personally I've had Coda/Nova as basic as it is a very robust option, but could be overkill for you.

Text Edit is a TEXT editor as its name implies; not a code editor. That's why.

I tend to use Wappler - https://wappler.io/
Have a look at the YouTube playlist that I have started:

According to Apple, it looks like you just need to put the .html in place of the .rtfd and the program will save as an HTML file, or click an Options setting to ignore Rich Text shenanigans...

Jon thanks Text Edit, did not work added html at end for test edit no luck
MS Word no luck get weird box saying: important comes from truswothy source, I click yes, but nothing happens, so just as bad.
Wappler just looked, too convoluted, cannot open a html file, no way, need 26 hour course, posted no luck too messy.
BBedit, I think works, but new upgrade is overpriced $50 dang.

Can you post the code here by copying and pasting. That way we will get more insight as to what is going on.
Having said that, if you do not post the code then it is my belief that you are having us on.

If you don't need all the extra stuff its free forever as a simple editor. Also if these are too much, is it worth investing in an editor or maybe you would be better suited to migrate to a CMS where you can just edit small things from a visual editor online. Could we see an example of your site?
