Hi
Ive just bought a new laptop with the intention of working on my site when out and about, however Ive finally got the 2 computers networked (NOT EASY!!) but now its not quite as simple as I thought it would be!
So what is the best way of keeping things up to date?
What I do at the moment IS (from laptop) ... open the file from my PC via the home network Ive set up, > Make the changes > then save it BACK on the PC via the network and "put".
ALSO... (im not sure if this is another thread) when I "put" the files it asks "put dependant files" which takes ages.. so should I click no to this? again im not really sure what its asking me! I assume its some thing to do with the images on the page which I dont suppose I need to "put" back on as Ive not altered them??
Some simple pointers would be much appreciated!
Thanks x

There are several ways to do this. Basically, make one computer the master copy of the code - probably better the desktop rather than the laptop. Then if you are using the laptop, define your site to pick up the files from the master. This works so long as you are networked.
If you take your laptop on the road, you can either synch the site on your laptop and then reverse the process when you get back to base. Or you could use the server to store the files. That assumes that you have an internet connection and you can keep the working files from interfering with the live files.
As an added safety feature, you can use the check-in/check-out feature in DW.
The best I can do without further information. Hope this does help some.

"Dependant files" refers to all files linked to the current page. In other words, images, external JavaScript files, and style sheets. Unless you have changed any of them, you don't need Dreamweaver to upload them again. I select the "Don't show this message again" checkbox and click No. Thereafter, Dreamweaver uploads only those files that I select for uploading myself.
