20.2 Lag / slow

Explorer ,
Jun 28, 2020 Jun 28, 2020

Another user here having problems with 20.2 latency issues when typing in code.

PHP and HTML seem reasonably ok, but Javascript has a noticeable lag when typing code.

Tried the usual.. rebuilding index etc.

And I don't think it is my CPU (Ryzen 2700X) which sits at a comfortable 3-4%

Hi,

Thanks for reporting.

We are not able to reproduce the issue at our end.

Could you please share setps to reproduce the issue. Also it would be helpful if you could share a video of the issue so that we can narrow down the issue and investigate it.

Thanks

OS: Windows 10

Creating a new Javascript file as a test, you can see clear lag on cursor when typing and hitting enter (I hit enter rapidly a few times to demonstrate).

I can't reproduce it either.

  • Which OS?
  • Is your site defined?
  • Does the local site folder reside on your primary hard drive, not networked or cloud drives?
  • Is energy saving Sleep Mode disabled?
  • Does this happen with all sites & files or just certain ones?
  • Can you create a new JavaScript file to test with?
  • Which troubleshooting steps have you tried?

I have reverted to 20.1 and the latency issue has gone (just the security issues that were fixed in 20.2 😕 )
I will try and reinstall 20.2 to see if it was an install problem...

Did you restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking?

Failing that... revert to your previous version.

Hi,

Can you please try below steps and let us know if it resolves your issue:

  • Disable site cache in site settings > advanced settings > local info and uncheck enable cache.
  • In Edit > Preferences (Win) or Dreamweaver > Preferences (Mac) -> Code Hints, deselect Enable Code Hints.
  • Also try to disable On Edit Linting,  click Edit > Preferences (Win) or Dreamweaver > Preferences (Mac). In the category list, click Linting, select On edit linting and click Apply.

Let us know if this helped.

Thanks

Totally Agree!  What happened to Dreamweaver? This update is sluggish as hell and this is a BIG problem for my business. Now I see why everyone is leaving Dreamweaver.  Think I am out too if you can’t fix this ASAP. Ridiculous!

Hi Oliver,

Can you please let us know if disabling Linting fixes your issue.

Are you using a Hidpi machine?

Also it would be helpful if you could share a file where the issue is reproducible.

Thanks

Still Laggggyyyyyy.

A fresh install and regedit clean up improved it for a while... but it was short lived.

I can confirm there is major lag recently introduced in DW 20.2 (Windows 10) on any defined site. This has nothing to do with GIT or FTP or defined sites.

Every time you hit any key in any file using any language there is a 1-2 second lag. Copy/paste also takes forever. I'm thinking that this may have more to do with the latest update of Creative Cloud than DW itself. This is totally unacceptable and is ruining my job and my productivity. You guys need to expedite this issue and fix it ASAP!
