    Try this solution: http://christierney.com/2011/01/06/dreamweaver-cs4-hangs-at-initializing-extension-data/

It is for CS4, but i worked for me.  Delete the cache located here: “C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\SiteCache”.

Dreamweaver won't start on a limited user account (windows XP).

Adobe Support just suggested to get an admin account to use it.

    This is not possible.

    Any suggestions?

Here is how i fixed it on Mac OS:

    1. In the Finder open the Go menu, select "Go To Folder..."
    2. Type "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5" and press Ok
    3. Move the en_US folder to the trash

This fixed the problem on mine.

Note: I also deleted the ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4 folder. I'm not sure if it's related.

This solved my "dreamweaver cs5 forgetting ftp passwords " issue!

It imported them again (I think from cs4 still installed)

If you have workspaces saved you must remember to copy them back in though when dreamweaver creates a new en_US folder.

    thanks russ man!

Sadly, quitting Dreamweaver, removing the en_US folder from DW's Application Support, and re-launching does not work for me. Still no username and password Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I have several sites defined.

Same with repairing and removing references to the servers and Dreamweaver via Keychain Access.

    This is certainly frustrating!

    Best wishes,

    Steve

We checked Dreamweaver CS 5 Trial on PC Intel Core 2 duo 6600, 4 GB Ram, Nvidia 7600 graphic card, with Windows 7 Professional 32 bit and 64 bit.

It works perfectly on 32 bit. It hangs on 64 bit, we uninstalled it on the 64 bit computer.

Forget Adobe support. They are evil.

I haven't tested it on 32 bit Windows, but Dreamweaver CS5 is working perfectly on my Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. It should install into C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.

I can't explain why it failed to work on your 64 bit machine, but I've been running Dreamweaver CS5 without problems in 64 bit Windows 7 for nearly six months (both in beta and the final release).

    Hi David,

thanks for the hint. It actually does install into the below mentioned

directory. But unfortunately it hangs when the image appears. For us

that doesn't matter too much. We'll use it on the 32 bit machine. We are

happy that some annoying CS4 / Windows 7 bugs are gone.

    Regards

    Hi,

I've the same problem that Deon Kumara has but I don't have file vault activated. This problem started yesterday after installing an update suggested by the program.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

Yes, contact Adobe Technical Support. Even if the support agent can't solve the problem immediately, it's important that you report these problems directly to Adobe. That's the only way that Adobe can gather the information needed to solve a problem that affects some people, but not others. This is a user-to-user forum, where users share their knowledge to help each other. It's not an official support channel.

I know that it's little consolation to you, but I installed the Dreamweaver update on my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) on Friday, and Dreamweaver continues to work without problems. I always keep my version of Snow Leopard up to date with all the latest security patches.

have you checked the hang isn't caused by this?.... I've just posted this

Dreamweaver cs5 has a major flaw

When 'related files' is turned on (a feature we are paying for!) and a webpage has code similar to the following in the header

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>

At first launch after quitting, it takes dreamweaver between 1 and 2 minutes or more to open one web page.

This is EXTREMELY annoying and unacceptable for software which costs so much money.

Many designers use jquery now and may of us link directly to the latest file or jquery library.

What's the point in having a related files facility if we have to turn it off in order to use Dreamweaver with jquery or any other external files!!!!!?

    Adobe?

Did you use Jim Bloom‘s  fix?

    Thanks ... Ken

    May 14, 2010

it only helped after FILE VAULT was disabled!

... but again, that is not optimal solution, because i want to sure FileVault...

does Adobe people read forums? Would be nice if they get this fixed soon,

other wise i will still stick to CS4.
