Hi,
I've just installed the trial of Dreamweaver CS6. And I noticed it's always taking 100% of the CPU!!
I disabled RELATED FILES, deleted the cache, but it still takes 100% of the CPU.
The CPU goes down to 0% once I enter any menu in Dreamweaver.
I tried all the solution offered here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/656747 but it still didn't helped.
Any advice?
Thanks!
If you have installed Dreamweaver CCM update (12.1), you should no longer face this issue. If you have 12.1 update installed and are still facing this problem, let us know. For users that are not on the cloud, Adobe is working towards a release that addresses this issue.

I had downloaded the package of the DW today but it is still does not fixed... I realize that this bug begins to emerge in CS5 version (or less). So I have to use older versions of DW (Macromedia Dreamweaver 8) which is stupid, because I can not afford sacrifice a whole core for CS6 which was always opened on my dual core laptop.

If you have used the crack of replacing the amtLib.dll file with the commonly downloaded cracked amtLib.dll file, it will cause this problem/behavior. Replace the cracked file with the original .dll and re-open Dreamweaver. You will see your CPU usage go back to normal. For those of you who HAVE NOT installed the cracked .dll, please indicate you are NOT using any pirated version of the software or files. No point in making Adobe try and fix a problem that is not theirs.

I don't think Adobe would acknowledge and investigate this problem if they knew it had to do with their own anti-piracy measures. I have downloaded and installed the full english Design Web Premium CS6 suite (DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16) last week after receiving my upgrade from the english CS5.5 Web Premium which I purchased earlier this year.
After running Dreamweaver CS6 and activating it using my official serial I have the same 100% CPU usage problem as described by many others. I had to reinstall Dreamweaver CS5.5 since my laptop was running much slower with one core being maxed out all the time. For the record, here's my hardware setup, I hope it helps in quickly tracking down and solving the problem:
Alienware M14X laptop
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits (Dutch version)
CPU: Intel Core i7-2670QM 2.20Ghz
RAM: 6GB
Display: NVIDIA GeForce 555M (3GB)
Monitor: External via HDMI at 1920x1080

Yes, I can confirm this. Cracked amtlib.dll seems to cause the problem. When replaced with original one, the CPU problem stops immediately.

I'm using a legit copy. However, not with Creative Cloud, so I haven't got the latest update...
However, this has fixed the issue to me: http://www.tbogard.com/2010/11/18/high-cpu-usage-of-dreamvweaver-cs5-here-the-solution/
Good luck

this excessive cpu-usage issue-- and it's strange nuances-- is also being discussed in this thread in which I included a screengrab (post #45) demonstrating the behavior as depicted by my "cpu meter." I'm using Windows 7 x64 on a ThinkPad W520 with an i7 and 8 GB RAM. This does not happen with any other program in the suite as far as I know, so it seems pretty clear based on feedback in both of these threads that this is a serious bug in DW CS6. I think I'll be reverting to 5.5 until it gets sorted.

Ok.
People, the same problem on:
Intel Atom N270 1,6GHz
2GB Ram,
1024x576 resolution
Windows XP

50% CPU also.

And second machine:
Core 2 Duo E6400

I am running an officially registered standalone version of Dreamweaver, Version 12.0, Build 5842, and I have encountered a similar problem.
When I start Dreamweaver, it eats up 33% of processor time.
My Adobe products are set to update automatically. If I manually run Adobe Application Manager, it says all my products are up to date.
Hardware:
Dell XPS L502X
Intel Core i7-2720QM @ 2.20 GHz (quad core CPU)
8 GB RAM
Software:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
It's odd that Dreamweaver takes up more processor time than Premiere Pro CS6 does!
Best regards,
Nick

Hi Janaki,
I have the same problems like the other CS6 user. I tried to fix it with updates ()
Now, I have find out, that if I open a javascript-document the first time, the CPU goes to 50 % usage, if I close the document, nothing changes (50% usage) and if I open it again, the usage will grown to 100 %.
My Dreamweaver-Version is: 12.0 Build 5861...

Hi Kai,
What is the size of the javascript file? Is your local site root folder a network folder or local folder?
Note: This high CPU usage problem seems to happen with cracked version of DW.

Hi Janaki,
thanks for your reply.
The size of the javascript file is max. 200 KB. I tried it with different javascripts with different sizes and all of them starts to consume 50 % of CPU. The files are all in a local folder...
Yesterday I downloaded the newest Version of Adobe Master Collection CS6 from Adobe and find out that the problems starts with javascript files which are bigger than 100 KB.
I have a official version of Master Collection CS6 - I wouldn't ask anything about this problem on an official Adobe-Forum if my CS6 is a cracked version... 🙂
Thanks Kai

Using a legit copy of DW CS6 12.0 (Build 5861) Creative Cloud. Launching DW is fine, but after some time (don't know what triggers it), it goes crazy with the cpu at 100%.
One thing i noticed is that the menu bar seems to disappear when DW looses window focus, but then hovering my mouse over the menu bar reveals them (see screenshot below). When i click on one of them menu items, the cpu goes down to 0%; however, dismissing the drop-down menu makes the cpu go back up to 100%
Might have something to do with this:
png_set_benign_errors() function causes the issue everytime.

iMac late 2012, OSX 10.8.x, 16 GB RAM, DW v12.2 via CC subscription, all updated
I see DW using 98 - 104% of my system much of the time, even when it is in background with no windows visible.
I just quit the piece of k'rap to stop it. Typical Macromedia bad design core.
If I quit DW then restart it, it is well-behaved for about 2 mins. Then it sucks the big CPU again.
This continues, and sometimes DW drops to 1-2% of CPU usage for a while, then pops back up to around 100%. I would say it spends more than half its time burning my CPU hard for no reason.

I'm not sure you can blame Macromedia code, my Indesign CS6 behaves in a similar way.

I had the same: weird processor usage, that would go away when clicking the menu bar.
My trick was to then choose "Help / About Dreamweaver". Then the processor usage would stay low. Can't work in Drreamweaver the, because the About Dreamweaver window is then open. I would use this when I went to work in another program, but had to leave Dreamweaver open.
But now, since a recent Windows Update, this problem has totally disappeared!

It looks like Dreamweaver has issues with "runaway" javascript or continual loops in js. I assume DW runs the script in order to validate/proof the code. Even if you close the file, it's still stuck running/looping in memory. Reopening the file just makes it worse as you end up with 2 instances running at the same time.
It even causes Dreamweaver to not be able to quit without force-quitting on Mac.
CS6 (Mac) 12.0.3 does not resolve this.
