Dynamic PDF from HTML/ASP?

New Here ,
May 10, 2007 May 10, 2007
Hello

Can anyone point me to a method of creating a PDF dynamically from a webpage? I have a page (ASP, MS SQL backend) which I'd like to be able to create an up-to-date PDF download version of. It's on a shared server web host, where I can't install server software. It does have ASP.NET enabled though.

Any tips gratefully received!

Regards

I can tell you right off the bat that classic ASP would require a
third-party component to be installed.
ASP.NET has a lot of stuff built into it that ASP did not. I'm not sure if
PDF generation is one of those things.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but at least you know you can narrow your
search to .NET since you can't install anything. :)
(Hey, maybe your host has something installed anyway. A lot of them provide
commonly requested components.)

You could try Prince...

http://www.princexml.com

My understanding is that they are working on ASP.NET integration. It seems pretty good, but i've only ever played around with the GUI version.

I use this with success in ASP/VBscript:
http://www.aspxnet.it/public/Default.asp?page=58. It does not need a COM
component on the server.
The site is in italian with an automatic translation feature. but the
translation is very poor.
But I don't speak/read italian (I'm Dutch), and I managed to get the thing
working based on the dreadful english translation. So maybe you can too.
