Remote Server Connection - FTP Error - cannnot connect to httpdocs folder only

New Here ,
Aug 11, 2018 Aug 11, 2018

I'm getting the following error when trying to connect to remote server to sync my website. Using SFTP protocol on port 22 and this has worked fine for years.

An FTP error has occurred - cannot open server folder /httpdocs/. Access denied. The file may not exist, or their could be a permission problem.

Using latest dreamweaver (as of 8-10-2018) version. I've replicated this error on two separate computers that were on different networks (with different isps) and it is the same so i'm pretty sure its not a firewall issue. I can connect just fine (using sftp) to the server with filezilla and see all folders so this does appear to be a dreamweaver issue. When i connect with dreamweaver the httpdocs folder is invisible when connecting to  root "/" and gives the above error when connecting directly to the httpdocs folder. Anyone have this problem before?

I have noticed in my plesk panel in the file manager that the httpdocs folder as well as a few others are members of the "psaserv" and "psacln" groups instead of "root". They also have different permissions. Dreamweaver seems to be able to see only the folders with the group name "root" but it cannot see the other folders (when i login to the root directory instead of httpdocs).

Maybe your site definition has become corrupted.  Try creating a new one.

I actually just created the site definition yesterday after installing dreamweaver for the first time on this computer. I did this to see if it was a firewall issue when i got the error initially at my work computer. So this same error popped up on a new dreamweaver install on a different network with different isp.

If it worked before and suddenly stopped, maybe somethinig has changed at the server level.  Have you contacted your web host?

Are you using the latesr version of DW 2018.2?

They told me nothing has changed. They also said because i could connect just fine with filezilla ftp client (and they could too) it must be software related.

Have you tried the new beta version? You can install it next to the version that you have now, you cannot run both at the same time.

Adobe Prerelease

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

When attempting to login to httpdocs i consistently get the error i posted at beginning of thread.

well as you can see on this screen grab, DW's FTP on left side and Plesk File Manager on right side, can see the same tree, whatever  group they belong to !

Ok, thanks for posting. So it seems as if its a dw issue and not any settings on my plesk. I plug in the same ip, credentials and port on filezilla and it sees everything just fine. Not sure why DW isnt seeing all the files on server? This is weird.
