CEP folder missing

Community Beginner ,
Sep 08, 2014 Sep 08, 2014

Hi there,

I am trying to follow the steps described on this page: http://blogs.adobe.com/cssdk/2014/06/adobe-extension-builder-and-creative-cloud-2014.html

But at Step 2 I have to do following, but that folder doesn't exist on my Mac, but I do have Photoshop CC 2014 installed.

Change Service Manager Root Folder to:

Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP

What should I do?

Thanks a lot!

Gio_ is correct. Extensions live at '/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions'

If the directory doesn't exist, simply create it manually and you should be good to go.

Hi,

Did you manage to resolve this issue? I'm having the same problem.

Me 3.  I suspect if you start with a fresh CC 2014 install (I just got a new win 8.1 computer) it doesn't create the local user CEP folder.  I've just started putting my extension directly into the main CEP folder and that seems to work.  But honestly reading this CEP 5 Super mega guide: Extending Adobe apps with HTML5+Node.js | /// andy hall  I've given up on Eclipse and just started editing my extension directly with Brackets.  It's faster since you don't have to keep killing/ launching Photoshop.

The other problem I found was that the manifest editor in Eclipse kept reverting the changes I made in the XML editor.  Also that guide may have left out changing the version number of the extension.  You can set Version="5.0" fine but the extension isn't recognised if you try yo set it to 5.2

TNKS!

I was able to get the CEP folder from my coworker's computer. Since I'm on a Mac I had to place it under /Library/Application Support/Adobe/ folder.

But it only contains extensions folder, which itself contains a JSLinter extension folder, which I suspect, my coworker had installed. So you should be fine creating an empty CEP folder with an empty extensions folder inside.

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CEP

What about more modern versions of Adobe Photoshop CC?

Do they create the folders automatically?

Hi @PrinceNonso26825762qiy4,

If you get an error that the extension is not compatible then even finding the CEP folder would not resolve your issue. Talk to the developer of the extension on what is needed to get it running.

Hi guys, thanks for the answers!

I honestly didn't experiment further with extensions after posting this, but I'll keep that in mind for the next time!

Hello, everyone!!

This is a very old thread which might only work for Adobe 2014.

In new version Adobe CC, the CEP folder(For Windows 10)  is here:

C:\Programs Files (x86) \ Common Files \ Adobe \ extensions\

It made me 0.5 hour to finally get my extension installed!

On a MAC it would be one of the following locations

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions

You can paste Flow folder directly in the support files folder of After effects
