Fireworks Asking for Serial # - Says Trial Period Expired

I have a subscription that includes Fireworks CS6 but I am no longer able to use it.  When I install it, it simple says that the trial period is expired.  When I go to sign in, it asks for a serial number.  Looking at help topics to install Muse (didn't work, I don't have this), reset the hosts (nothing there) and use the Creative Cloud Cleaner (ran it, didn't work), uninstall and reinstall (yep tried twice), and getting nowhere.  Also I am constantly getting an Error 500: Internal Server Error (on multiple browsers and both behind and not behind my VPN and after clearing cache) when I try to access apps in my subscription.  What has happened?  Please assist.

Hi thank you for the quick response.  I saw this thread actually once before so this is great, I thought it might be a solution, there's just one issue, which is going to sound silly.  I have no clue where to get my serial # from my subscription.  I got Fireworks as part of either the Photography plan subscription or the Acrobat Pro subscription, I honestly can't recall because it was a while ago and when I go on the site now to try to find out which has it, I don't see it (did they remove it or something?).

 

I'd be fine to enter it, if I could just find out how to get it.

Although the dialog box mentions the presence of a serial number, since the introduction of Creative Cloud, no key other than the one that gives you access to your account is required.

Simply having an active account is enough to validate your licenses and rights.

 

So, if Fw is included in the list of downloadable applications in your CC account, whether online or in the Desktop version, once installed it will be activated automatically and no further activation key will be required.

 

As explained in the previous thread, sometimes CS6 applications, or Acrobat X, require this activation when they start up, especially after major upgrades under Windows. But once the process has been completed, the application always launches, and not as a trial version.

Unfortunately, this is as far as I can get with it.  I've logged in through my CC desktop - downloaded it through it.  Have logged out and logged back in to force the reactivation and relog in as suggested in other threads but every time this is as far as I can get.  I certainly haven't needed to enter any serials in the past, this has only just happened since I updated my computer from W10 to W11.  In my case, having an active account is no longer enough to validate the license and rights.

It's true that your problem is more complex than usual.

Before reading the rest of this message, I'm just curious, have you launched Fw from the Creative Cloud, 'Open' button... or from Windows launcher ?

 

If it still doesn't work, there could be an explanation that stems from a corruption linked to the original installation mode of your CS6 version. Put it differently, it could be that in the past you installed a version of Fw with a direct installer from Macromedia's suite. Even once uninstalled, it's possible that leftover files, or data in the registry, could create an artifact causing the need to provide a serial number.

 

To try to resolve this, uninstall Fw, use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and clean up all traces of Fw... then install Fw again from Creative Cloud, and launch it again from Creative Cloud.

Quite complex (and very frustrating):

  • Have you launched Fw from the Creative Cloud, 'Open' button... or from Windows launcher ? Both, same result
  • corruption linked to the original installation mode of your CS6 version I've wondered this myself, I very recently reformatted cleanly to W11 and my guess is when I installed it the first time, I must have missed the license piece or something
  • Adobe CC Cleaner - ran it actually before I opened the thread, no avail 

 

I think I might need to get in touch with direct tech support from Adobe on this one.  For all I know, something in my account just needs to be clicked or refreshed on the server's end.  I also am running into the 500 Internal Server Error when I try to access my creative cloud on the website.  I've gone through a few threads on this too but more of the same, get nowhere fast.

I recently had my plan cancelled as I wasnt going to pay when the price increased and they sent me a link to get it set up again at the usual lower price. Since then fireworks is showing 'trial' and Im asked to add a serial number. After opening live chat I have been told I can't use fireworks and no longer any work arounds. Its literally the only app I use in creative cloud. So  I will be cancelling if I can't find a work around in the next few days. They have said the app is not supported and Adobe will not help. I kept the chat history as they tend to go round in circles and lie about this topic.

Yeah tech support was woefully unhelpful they just sent me in a loop, probably just reading the two standard "form" answers.  It was extremely aggravating and I wound up just figuring out how to use Photoshop (since I have it from the Photography package) vs. fighting with this any more on Fireworks.  I'm happy to see some people can still use it at least.  Frustrating to see stories like yours though!

Its madness. Thinking of setting up a site just to blog about this issue, share the live chat (which I screen shot) and ask people to send in their complaints. Are adobe really that rich they just dont want our money.  Ive had fireworks - the only app I use - for over a decade. Its literally the only app I use - and until recently just got it from Older apps without an issue. Never had a serial number - just part of the package.  

Im hoping someone finds a work around - you would think Adobe would at least let us keep using it even if they dont like it - loyal customers and all that. Im so cross I really am thinking of setting up a site dedicated to it.  Maybe someone will figure out a work around.

Resolved the 500 error, stupid VPN web protection was blocking it so that even with the VPN off it was still doing it.  But now I'm coming across something else.  I looked recently on Adobe.com at the apps available in the 20GB Photography plan and Fireworks isn't there but it's now in the 100GB plan.  I am wondering if all of the reason for the trouble is Adobe disallowed Fireworks in the 20GB plan and put it into the 100GB and since I have 20GB that's why I cannot use it.  If that's case, that's a really slimy move.

Did you manag to solve this?
I have been in the same position for a few weeks on both my computers.
Siging out of CC does not solve it, neother does launching FW from the CC panel instead of the app link.

I haven't had a chance to speak with Adobe about it yet.  I tried on that chat app but it drove me in circles so I need to call them.  Hasn't been the #1 priority for me atm but it's on the to-do list.

Here in France, in the Photography's plan, we have access to either the 20Gb or 1Tb plan, not the 100Gb, https://www.adobe.com/fr/creativecloud/photography/compare-plans.html.

 

In any case, Fw has never been associated with photography, but with web interfacing (UI/UX) and the creation of multimedia objects.

 

Now, having said that, we're all just users here, not Adobe agents, so only folks @Adobe could tell you why Fw is included in one package and not the other.

Most dont have a serial number - it has been part of the online subscription.  So now that adobe is no longer supporting it, there are no options.

Fireworks CS6 is a discontinued app but can still be installed through the Creative Cloud Desktop app if you have an "All Apps" subscription and have selected "Show Older Apps" in the Preferences.

 

Fireworks may come up as a 30-day trial but your valid CC subscription license should be recognized after following these steps:

When my trial ran out, there was a "Register" button that I clicked while I was logged into the Adobe CC app, it then registered and everything works fine now.
