This started all of a sudden. When i open fireworks i get a "trial expired" box when i try to click through it asks for a serial number. I dont have one. What now?
Chat support (person named Akhil) told me fireworks isnt included with creative cloud but thats nonsense because i have been paying since 2013 for creative cloud specifically for access to Fireworks. Im on with the chat person right now and hes telling me that i am not allowed to install firworks even though i just did it using creative cloud app. I have asked this person 4 times now to transfer me to someone who knows what they are doing and he refuses.
My laptop runs fireworks just fine. My desktop has the issue. I know this is some registry bug or something. Any ideas? Thanks.

Fireworks is included with a the full or student/teacher Creative Cloud subscription.
However, if you are running a Mac Catalina or Big Sur, it will NOT be available as they do NOT support 32 apps, in which case you'd need to run something like Paralllels Desktop as a workaround to install Fireworks.
To access/install Fireworks from the Creative Cloud app you need to make sure the 'show older apps' option is enabled. You can find this setting from within the Creative Cloud app, by clicking your profile icon (top right), then from the apps section scroll down to the bottom and the setting is there:

The ALL APPS plan includes Fireworks (CS6) under Show Older Apps along with a few other discontinued apps like Muse and SpeedGrade. It's not widely known except to people who cling to legacy apps.
I'm not sure how much longer Adobe will make these available to CC subscribers. Using legacy software is not a long-term solution. So I encourage users to find replacements sooner rather than later. If not Photoshop CC or Photoshop Elements, perhaps one of these:
-- GIMP: https://www.gimp.org/
-- Pixlr: https://pixlr.com/
-- Paint.NET: https://www.getpaint.net/
-- Photo Pos Pro: https://www.photopos.com/PPP3_BS/Default.aspx
-- Affinity Photo: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/photo/

For some Windows users with the full Creative Cloud subscription, this odd workaround has worked:
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDapp.exe => right click the exe => compatibility tab => check 'run this program as an administrator => click OK
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Fireworks CS6\Fireworks.exe => right click the exe => compatibility tab => make sure 'run this program as an administrator' is NOT checked.
Do a system restart for good measure and see if you can launch/run Fireworks without the nag screen

I am having the same problem as @39CentStamp. I tried @Paul-M's "odd workaround," but I am still getting the "Your Trial Has Expired" nag screen. I know I shouldn't be "clinging to legacy apps," as @Nancy OShea writes.

If you don't want to take a look at Photoshop, you can try Photopea, a web based app that can open layered Fireworks PNGs or Affinity Designer which is the nearest thing to Fireworks that I've seen.
I don't really like the word Legacy when talking about Fireworks, Adobe may have abandoned it but it is still a very capable app and there is nothing that quite replaces it on the market today.
There's a weird workaround that involves installing Adobe Muse to get Fireworks working too, apparently it has worked for some people.

I have been using Fireworks for touch screen user interface graphics since before most people knew what that meant. At 46 years old i don't have the free time i once did so learning something new is going to be painful lol. I refuse to use photoshop for anything other than editing photos....
What would you suggest i learn? What app would you choose if you wanted to create "screen graphics"? GIMP has always been on my radar because its open source (or was last i checked). I think i downloaded it 10 years ago but never got around to trying it out. Affinity Designer looks interesting but i don't know anything about it. Will it exist in 10 years?
I wish Adobe would just let me buy it for $1000 standalone. I should have kept the version before creative cloud became a thing. Any updated since then haven't benefited me. I literally pay $50+ monthly just for Fireworks and Acrobat.

If you have a Creative Cloud subscription then the obvious choice is Photoshop, it has a steeper learning curve than Fireworks though. Other options are a web based program called Photopea that can open layered Fireworks PNGs and there is Affnity Designer which is about the closest thing to Fireworks that I've seen.
