Community Beginner ,

When I try to open Fireworks CS 6 it says my trial has expired.

It has worked fine in the past.

Assuming you have a full or Student/Teacher Creative Cloud subscription?:

1) If you have Catalina or Big Sur Mac you cannot install Fireworks

2) If you have a teams license contact your IT dept/admininstrator

3) Check in the Creative Cloud app that you have the show older apps setting checked. Click your profile icon (top right) => preferences => apps => scroll to bottom

Modern Macs on Catalina or Big Sur cannot support legacy Creative Suite software including Fireworks.

INDIVIDUALS:  In your CC Desktop App Preferences, check the box to Show Older Apps.

TEAMS/ENTERPRISE:  Contact your IT dept for assistance.  Your plan admin will need to create a new package.

Your screenshots contain sensitive personal data.  I have removed them for your protection because this is a public user-to-user community, not Adobe support.

Hi again, Nancy.

I was able to download it (the instructions for "Older Apps" worked on the Creative Cloud app, but not on the website -- I couldn't find them on the website but didn't check the app! Duh).

But as you say, it still crashed:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010
Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

So I guess I will need to learn XD instead.

Sad, though.  I loved Fireworks.

I'm not sure what you mainly use Fireworks for but XD isn't my first choice as a replacement.

  • Photoshop for raster images.
  • Illustrator for SVG.
  • Dreamweaver for HTML & JavaScript code.
  • XD for UI/UX prototypes.

@Bram M,

What to do when paid Creative Cloud apps revert to trial mode:

https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/kb/stop-creative-cloud-trial-mode-after-purchase.html

Manually reset the Hosts file:

Thank you for your help, Nancy!

Unfortunately, one of the steps I took was to uninstall the version I had, thinking it corrupt.  Now I can't find an install link anywhere.

Can anyone help me re-install Fireworks? I see all these references to "Older Versions" that are never where they are supposed to be!

If you're looking for a full replacment for Fireworks, XD is not going to be it - its a protypting tool but it doesn't have the vector and bitmap editing capabilities of Fireworks, You'll need to use three apps instead; Illustrator, Photoshop and XD .. Not condusive for a fast workflow.

Did you mention which OS you are trying to run Fireworks on?

Hi, Paul.

I am trying to run Fireworks on Mac OS Mojave (10.14.6).  It worked fine until a few weeks ago.  First it forgot I had access (kept asking me to buy it, although I'm paying monthly for all CC apps).  Then I started getting these crashes:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010
Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

Is there any way to run Fireworks on a Mac natively? In some Mac version of "safe mode" or with some beta release?  I love Fireworks.  I was a Macromedia Education Leader back in 2002, then an Adobe Education Leader when they bought Macromedia.  Deep ties to the Fireworks => Dreamweaver workflow!

Mojave supports 32 bit apps, so in theory it should work ...

You could try in the first instance doing a complete cleanup of all Adobe apps and do a fresh install, using the Cleaner Tool will help with this, here is the direct link for Mac version of the Cleaner Tool

Moving forward here is an article with workarounds for using 32 bits apps on Catalina and newer.

Adobe is worthless for anything releated to CS6 suite.

Short story is that the CS6 suite licensing system does not support Adobe Enterprise account. So no matter how may times your try to register Fireworks it just dosen't know how make use of an Adobe Enterpise account. To get around this simply install Muse. Make sure Fireworks is closed, launch Muse and get the license for it by signing in. Once you are signed in go ahead and launch Fireworks, it should now be licensed. Afterwords it is safe to uninstall Muse.

Hi @Mark Laudenbach,

Assuming your organization's internal policies allow you to use discontinued apps, all Creative Cloud Teams or Enterprise plan holder's should  contact your IT dept admin for a special package of Fireworks.  The same goes for Muse or other discontinued apps.

Made several calls to Enterprise support and got no help. Tried using the cleaner and Fireworks still would not open. I installed Muse and went through accepting the agreement and now Fireworks opens!

Thanks,

Mark

If Fireworks won't open at all, this will probably work on Windows:

1) Uninstall Fireworks, check remove preferences when prompted, then reboot your machine

2) Download an offline Fireworks installer from here **IMPORTANT** Visit this page first and login to your Adobe account, the links to are to official Adobe installers and you need to set an Adobe cookie first before downloading.

3) Install Fireworks with the offline installer **IMPORTANT** DO NOT launch Fireworks at this point.

4) Locate the following file  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core => right click => compatibility tab => check 'run this program as an administrator' => click the OK button

runasadmin.png

5) **IMPORTANT** DO NOT launch Fireworks yet, locate the Fireworks.exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Fireworks.exe => right click => compatibility tab => make sure 'run this program as an administrator' IS NOT CHECKED.

Reboot your machine again and try to launch Fireworks.

Locate C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDapp.exe

Right click => compatibility tab => Check the 'run this program as an adminstrator' checkbox => click the 'OK' button

For good measure do a system restart.
