Hi - there aren't any Adobe apps that open a layered Fireworks PNG and keep its editability, you will need to convert the Fireworks PNG to another format if you want to use them in another Adobe application.
Here are a few options
1) Photopea - opens layered Fireworks PNGs - you can open them and export to PSD for example
2) Download these Fireworks commands for batch conversion of Fireworks PNGs to PSD format, unzip and copy the 'Batch Convert' folder to your Fireworks Commands folder. Come back to me if you need more help

Hi @Nic5E1D,
If you're on Win10 or Mac OS Mojave, you still have access to FW. Just make sure to select the box to Show Older Versions in CC Desktop App. See screenshots below.
Click your Avatar (top right image) and select Preferences.

Some people have been using Parallels Desktop to run the Windows version of Fireworks on Catalina and Big Sur....

AFAIK, virtual machines won't work with Big Sur on Apple M1 chip computers. Parallels learned it was too labor intensive to mess with.

Find an old computer that can run legacy software -- Win 10 or Mac Mojave. Use the old machine to migrate FW PNG files to other layer-supporting file types (i.e. PSD, TIFF or AI).

Have you personally tested the latest version of Parallels Desktop on a new MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with M1 chip?

No, have you? I don't have a Mac.

Yes, I've got a new MacBook Air M1 and Parallels Desktop runs and works just fine on it....

How well does legacy FW CS6 run on the virtual Win ARM installation?

It works great/fast, and I only have a MacBook Air M1 with 8GB of RAM... Only issue a user may have is if they are installing Fireworks from the Creative Cloud app Fireworks may not be available in the list of apps, in which case they can install Fireworks with an offline installer from here.
You shouldn't be posting misinformaiton on the forums when you clearly have not tested yourself and confirmed if the information you are posting has any weight... Your desperation to have the last word as usual has superceded any fact checking or testing!

That's good to know. I'm happy to hear it worked for you.
Parallels 17 didn't exist when Big Sur came out. It just arrived last month in preparation for Apple Monterey (due out later this year). Also Parallels is not freeware. It costs about 80 euros/yr.
As a Windows user, I have no need for Parallels or other virtual machines at this time. Fortunately, Win10 still natively supports 32-bit apps. 🙂

Sorry to bring up an old thread but Fireworks is available on Windows 11 too.
I'm still using Fireworks (even though it's been killed by adobe over 10 years ago) with the newest version of Illustrator because Fireworks is still the best software for creating hero banners and the like, just need SVG and webp encoding in it now...

That'll never happen.
WebP is a raster file. Google makes a webP plugin for older versions of Photoshop but not Fireworks. Sorry.

SVG is essentially an XML file. You can edit that in any plain text/code editor like Dreamweaver or Visual Studio Code.
Hope that helps.

Regarding SVG, it all depends on what you need.
Have you tried to used Aaron's extensions, https://fireworks.abeall.com/extensions/commands/Export/, or John's https://www.johndunning.com/fireworks/about/SVG.html... they're sufficient in many cases and still allow us to intervene in the code if necessary.
Regarding WebP and AVIF, I need to finalize an article on this subject. Some time ago, I created a Node-based tool that converts Fw productions into WebP and/or AVIF files. The main thing holding me back from writing the paper is that the conversion parameters are still hardcoded. I haven't yet taken the time to set up a proper control interface.
