Error: Flash Player "Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem ..."

I get the following message as soon as I boot up my PC:

"Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

According to Adobe, this is the first time they've heard of this issue.

I am operating on Windows XP Professional Version 2002 and get this error message about every 20 minutes since installing this version.  I am now getting tired of "reporting the problem" when the error box pops up.

I have not tried any options to fix the problem so I will read through these replys to see if there might be a "fix" laptop.

We have two machines running XP and only one of them has this problem. The difference is that the one with no problem has both the active-X and plug-in versions installed, the one giving the error message only has the active-X version. Maybe the updater is trying to update both versions in error? Anyone else have a similar situation?

So your problem is also a system that only has the active-x. Makes me think

that it is trying to update the plug-in and we don’t have it installed.

I apologize to everyone running into this issue with the Flash Player update service.  We're working on resolving this and treating it as a top priority.  Unfortunately, we've been unable to reproduce the problem internally but with the help of a number of customer volunteers we're making progress.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, please see this post that walks you through the process of changing your update process to "Notify": http://forums.adobe.com/message/4547234#4547234

I'll make sure to update the Announcement forum and forum posts as soon as I have additional information to share.

Thanks,

Chris

I started getting this message a few days ago after I allowed Adobe to 'update' my Flash Player to 11,3,300,265. That should not have been necessary since I was already using that same version and had been since it first appeared. Prior to that I had no problem using 11,3,300,265.

I use XP and mainly Opera but occasionally IE8. I can't say it has anything to do with which browser is in use. Perhaps it is triggered by page content?

I'll try System Restoring to the time when 11,3,300,265 appeared to work or maybe un/re installing Flash Player.

Hi, I would like some help with this issue.  I had to reinstall Adobe flash, but I am using Windows XP, for 2 days it kept crashing on me anytime I would open an app. Now I re installed it and I am still getting the issue in either Chrome or F.Fox. I went in Youtube that is ok, but if I open in Facebook it crashes on me. I would really like some help on this matter. Thank you in advance.

Isn't it about time for Adobe to chime in here?  It's their product and their problem.  Where are they?

I too have gotten this annoying little ditty around 10 times a day.  Mostly on a laptop that is in great shape that has XP SP 3 and runs like a pro.  I'm getting away from IE8 because they aren't updating stuff for it anymore.  To me, that's almost as annoying as the Adobe error.  Looks like Gates took a page from Job's playbook.  Shut off support and force them to buy a whole new system.  Want IE9 or 10?  Start taking advantage of html5 functions?  Win 7 OS in order to get those browsers.  I have too many advanced programs on this that would cost a bit to bring into the Win 7 world, and why fix it if it aint broke.  IE8 is acting worst by the day on things like FaceBook.  Went to Chrome.  A few Java script issues but all in all, a slick, streamline approach to browsing.  Safari and FireFox just are too much in the old IE world.

For me, it doesn't kick me out in Chrome, just stops my typing for a moment.

I've also seen this error daily for the past week or so.  A Flash Player update installed normally yesterday so I thought this error would not recur.

Does Adobe monitor these formums so they will know it's not an isolated issue?

Windows XP SP3

July 17, 2012

I'm an IT technician at a small company and I've had at least 5 computers get this same error here. I've also been uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player. I think it's been working so far, but I may not have rebooted. I can't recall right now if I've seen this error also on Windows 7 machines or only on our Windows XP SP3 machines. I'll post an update if I see it come up on a Windows 7 machine as well, it's definately an issue in Windows XP SP3 though. The error comes up before any browser is started, we generally have IE8 and Firefox(current version) installed on all of our computers.

Same here.  We have 12 workstations in the office, 10 XP SP3 and 2 Win7.  So far 8 of the XP SP3 stations see this at intermittent times.  Some will get it once in a day, others will get it several times a day.  The Win7 boxes haven't seen it.

Chris Cambell seems to be working with it on these forums.

Bigger than a pain in the foofoo!    I play games in Wild Tangent and it kicks me out when it's costing me to play the game.  Also kicks me out of the free casino games in Facebook, too.

I use IE8.  Really ticks me that Abode wants to now bundle and shove Chrome at ya even when you don't want to use it.

I have Windows XP.......SP3, too.

I get the message 20 times a day no matter what I'm doing.  I have uninstalled and re-installed a couple times and still same message.
