Flash 9 Installed but not detected

Guest

I have installed flash player 9 on my computer. according to adobe's website it's installed however any time i go to a website requiring flash it says that i need to download flash player 9. i have tried to uninstall and reinstall several times yet the same symptoms occur. the weird thing is that there are two user accounts on my computer. one of them has no problem with flash and the other account does. i've tried setting up a new user account to see if flash would work on another account and it will not. all of the user accounts have administrator rights. i am really confused at this point and don't know what else to try. i am also running ie7 and this problem didn't start until i downloaded ie7. it seems that there are a lot of people out there having trouble with flash 9 and ie7. i have tried to email adobe about the issue but i have not heard back from them. does anyone have any suggestions. thanks for your help in advance!

For problems with IE7 in Vista, try this, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 worked for me after uninstalling and re-installing flash player 9.0.115 countless times.

Forgive the cross posting (this solution is also in “Flash Player and Windows Vista Fix” and “Player Downloading, but can't see content”) but many are still seeking resolution and don’t check all relevant threads.

Flash Player 9,0,115,0 was not working in our IE7 under Vista SP1, but it was working in Firefox 2 under the same Vista install. Then we discovered Windows Media Player 11 was also not working.

The cure we found for WMP also cured our Flash problem!

We found the Media Player fix here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925704/en-us

Assuming you have tried all the various fixes above and in those other two threads, and we did, then essentially what you need to do is the following: (At least in Vista. XP may not need an elevated command prompt, so this can be run from the Run box.)

Start > All Programs > Accessories

Right Click on Command Prompt and Click Run As Administrator (This is considered an elevated command prompt in Vista.)

Click on Continue in UAC box that will pop up.

Type the following at the prompt: (Note space between 2 and j)

regsvr32 jscript.dll

Hit enter

You should get an “Installation OK” confirmation or similar. OK out of that.

Now type the following at the prompt: (Note space between 2 and v)

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Hit Enter

You should get an “Installation OK” confirmation or similar. OK out of that.

Go here to test:

Enjoy!

It may work if you update your drivers . It's one of the most common problems .See if this helps, but other than that ,just re-install everything .
Hope it helps.

Went to "Add/Remove Programs" and removed Macromedia Shockwave plug-in then reinstalled Flash ActiveX control. Seems to be working ok now.
