Flash not loading/installing

I can download Adobe ok , seemingly installs ok but when I go to test it on Adobe page , the flash image does not show. There is no indication of anything wrong or missing. The flash image simply does not show. There is also no indication or message telling me whether or not  I should have particular settings in internet explorer. ( I have IE 8 which otherwise works fine and have windows XP with all updates/service packs ). ( I did upload a similar comment to a previous thread but this seems to have been removed). Thanks

    In the Flash Folder

    4 items -

    1. Flash 10d.ocx ActiveX Control 3,889 KB - file version 10.0.42.34 description Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r42
    2. FlashUtil10d - file version 10.0.42.34 description Adobe Flash Player Helper 10.0 r42
    3. install Text Document 34kb
    4. uninstall_activeXAdobe Flash Player ActiveX version 10.0.42.34 description Adobe Flash Player ActiveX Installer

I notice in the add ons , the version (enabled)  is listed as 10.0.12.36 - have tried a couple of times to uninstall and install from the versions you previously provided but the version always shows 10.0.12.36

    in Add ons

    Java

Java Plus in 2 SSV helper enabled version 6.0.180.7

    JQSIEStartdetectorImpl Class enabled 6.0.180.7

Was able to disable the CA firewall but not the antiviirius or antispyware

Ran into this problem just last night.  you post helped me fix it.  From what I've seen, I'm pretty certain your flash player is installed.  You just can't see it because of the settings in CA.

It's the personal firewall options in CA software that causes the problem.  Specifically, the CA personal firewall.  I had to turn off the ad/pop-up blocker which is under the privacy option.  Once I did that, I could go to the Adodbe Flash Player Test site (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) and I saw the animation..

It was your thread and your mention of the CA software that made me think about this as I've had problems with the add blocking from CA beforre.  Thanks.  Hope you get your player to work.

Hello bearsinpark, I'm sorry about the other thread, still don't know what happened. Glad you started this one.

Would you go to Tools, manage add ons (please check all sections) and see if you can find an add on Shockwave Flash Object....ActiveX Control....Flash10d.ocx and that it is enabled?

Do you know how to find the Flash folder? If you do please post back with the contents. If you don't just tell me and I can direct you how to find it.

I think that information will tell me what might be amiss.

    Thank you.
