This guide is for Mac OS X users only. I don't use PC, so I have no idea what to do there.
So here was my particular issue. I went to a website that asked me into install the latest version of flash, even though I had the latest version already. I mistakenly did it, and Flash began to fail for me. YouTube kept telling me to install the latest Flash (which I had done) or turn on JavaScript (which was already on). So after three hours of trying to re-install 10.0.22.87, and even downgrading to Flash Player 9, I figured out what was happening on my system. Here's what I'm running:
iMac, OS X 10.5.7, Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, Safari 4.0.2
Okay. So the first step in this will be to run the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller, available here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html. After that's done, download Flash Player 10.0.22.87. Run the install, but DO NOT OPEN THE BROWSER YET. After the installation, I did some digging, and found that the installer was installing the files, but then moving them to the TRASH. So go to your Trash, and you should see two files somewhere: Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt. Copy the files and paste them into the following directories:
(Your Hard Drive)\Library\Internet Plug-Ins
(Your User Folder)\Library\Internet Plug-Ins
Flash Player should be working again across all browsers, on all websites.
Hope this helps! ![]()

While I'm not going to go through the re-installation again to test this, can you go to this page
Adobe - Test Adobe Shockwave and Flash Players
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/
to make sure you didn't just move the old / uninstalled versions back into place? I used the installer and it put things where they were to go.
I was having lots and lots of problems (still having a few) and did the following:
1) ran shareware app: iDelete QT and Flash Caches
2) ran Adobe's uninstaller
3) repaired permissions
4) ran the installer for latest version
5) ran the permission repair again
largely seems to work now.
I never needed to dig in the trash to get out files, and most people aren't reporting that which is why I ask that you verify the version...
and, I had run the installer several times trying to diagnose/get around problems.
Either way, best of luck and thanks for sharing what worked for you
