Flash Player 10.1.102.64 does not install

Hello,

I tried updating to latest Flash Player. I didn't manage to do that on IE, Opera or Firefox (all of them latest stable versions). I updated via downloaded executables from Adobe. OS: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

- on IE, the installer crashes at the end of installation, and Windows 7 goes on its usual way searching for web solutions for the problem. However, when verifying what version I have, it returns the correct number, 10.1.102.64

- on Opera/Firefox, the installer seem to be working correctly. But when I verify the version number, it shows that I still have the old version, 10.1.85.3

This is amazingly annoying. Please do not suggest that I install new applications just to make FP installer to work, I have a very well protected/managed computer with a clean registry, no spyware/adware/virus etc.

Is Adobe aware of this botched release? Any solutions?

Thank you.

EDIT:

- it seems a new version has been uploaded, at least for the Opera/Firefox version, as it seem to be correctly installed for now. Howver, the IE version still crashes at the end of the installation process. Here is some info from Event Viewer, might be useful to someone. The faulting module is Flash10l.ocx.

I have spent several days on this trying to update Flash Player because of a report from software I have on my computer that the file was insecure.  First tried to install and went through the whole process until the  Adobe©Flash Player Installer window came up and the Install button was not workable although the Read the License Here and Quit buttons were.  After trying several times with the same result I tried a bunch of things including:

Uninstalling all versions of Flash Player on my computer with the program offered by you and closing down my computer afterwards.

(oh, they are uninstalled, believe me.).

Using different browsers to download the exe file and trying to install from a bunch of them.

    Closing my virus program

I repeated these steps any number of times with no success at all.

I am running Windows XP Pro (I believe it's 32 bit), primary browser is Firefox and I used and am now using Opera to download but downloading doesn't seem to be the problem.

And, now I am without any Flash Player program and can't access many features of my forums or look at U Tube films, etc.  I am bereft.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Thank you for answering.

    - Flash10l.ocx is present at the location you mentioned; it has the correct 10.1.102.64 version.

    - the player works on IE, but I only tested on Youtube. But the installer for IE crashes after completing its job. On the "About" page it shows the correct version and that it is successfully installed.

Looks like the installer crashes after successfully completing the installation.

(It didn't crash on my system.)
