I am running Windows Vista with Google Chrome and ever since I updated to flash player 10 my games and videos are running jerky and slow. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, followed some other random internet advice and it is still performing so poorly I can't play the games.

Hi, if you haven't turned off the hardware acceleration feature then I would suggest you do that. Go to youtube and as soon as the video starts, right click on it and click on Settings and you should see a Display Setting; UNcheck the hardware acceleration.
It is also recommended to update your graphic and video drivers to the latest versions. You may see an improvement by just turning off the hardware acceleration feature.
See if this helps.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I have done that already. It was part of the self-diagnosis I was trying. Are my graphic and video driver updates in the Windows updates? Not sure how to do that. Thanks for your help.

Hi, glad you were able to take care of that:-) To go any further, I need to know your operating system, browsers and version numbers, whether a 64bit system so I can have you check a couple of files.
Thanks,

You are so kind. thanks
Let's see - operating system is Windows Vista; Browser is Google Chrome - not sure of the version number -, and AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 (getting these numbers from the properties window and hope that's the info you needed)

Hi, thanks. It appears that you have a 64bit system. When viewing Flash content, videos, etc and when Installing Flash Player you need to use the 32bit browser which is the default.
Even tho you use Chrome, you do have some version of Internet Explorer. I think you may want to check your Flash files.
Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash Open Flash and post back all files listed there. The NPSWF files you will need to right click on and then click on Properties in order to obtain the version numbers.
I don't use Chrome and am not familiar with it. My understanding is that with Flash Player version 10.1 it is embedded with the Chrome browser. Now where you find this info I don't know. I suppose there is a help at the top of the browser, so any info that is there will be helpful. In particular I am looking for add ons, plug-ins, extensions that would be in the Chrome browser. A SWF(Shockwave Flash) plug-in that should be version 10.1.53.64 and Enabled. Hope you can find that:-)
You can go to this test site and test with all browsers. You should see the animation and it will tell you the version of Flash Player that you have Installed, but just for the browser that you are testing with. When you test with IE and you have not Installed Flash Player into IE, then it should give you a message about that.

Wasn't sure if you wanted me to post this back to you, so will do that.
I went to the Windows and there is just a System32. Then I went on to macromed/Flash/ and these were the files listed under that:
Flash10h.ocx
FlashInstall.log
FlashUtil10h_Active X_dll
FlashUtil10h_ActiveX.exe
When I go to the Extension info at the top of the browser, it says there are no extensions added. I don't see anything that says Shockwave Flash or plug-ins.
I'm afraid I'm not to literate about all this.
I'll go to the link you sent and see what happens, too.

Hi, Ok. The test shows you have Flash Player 10.1 and the Flash files are all correct. Now they also show that you have Installed Flash Player into Internet Explorer. I don't see posted what version of IE you use. So let me know that so I can give you directions for some info that is needed.
Also since you found these Flash Player files in the System32 then you don't have a 64bit system.
When you are speaking of the extensions of the browser, you are referring to Chrome and not IE?
Thanks,

Not sure how to find which version of IExplorer I have.
I did open IE and found the extensions window. It appears I have:
Adobe PDF (disabled)
Adobe PDF Link Helper (disabled)
Adobe PDF Conversioin Toolbar (disabled)
Smart Select Class (disabled)
IE Plug in Class (enabled)

Using your IE(Internet Explorer) browser, go up to Help and click on About Internet Explorer and you should see what version of IE you are using.
