Flash Player 9 problem

Guest
Nov 10, 2007 Nov 10, 2007
After installing Flash Player 9 successfully (according to Adobe install page), sites that are asking for it to play content are still asking for it, as if it was not installed. I'm using IE7, and player is listed in 'Add-Ons' and enabled. Have also tried installing the Flash Player a second time.
This is on a laptop running Vista Home Premium.
Can anyone help?
Thanks very much in advance.

So..........if I'm getting this right, this method is for XP only. According to the Microsoft site, the SubInAcL tool is not for Vista.
Do we have a fix for Flash Player 9 with Vista?
I'm very surprised that Adobe hasn't addressed this problem, with so many users affected.

This solution seems to have worked for me with Vista. All Flash sites are now working.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. Right click on the file 'FlashUtil9d.exe' and select 'Run as Administrator'. Whether you are logged on as an admin. doesn't matter. It will then install without having to change any security or permissions settings.
If you have multiple entries of this file, make sure you have selected the latest version (9.0.47.0) by right-clicking and selecting 'Properties', and choosing the 'Details' tab.
Hopefully, this will help some Vista users.

This is how I got Flash to work after months of Flash breakdown.
first I set Internet security to medium and gave permission fto all active x, except un signed. controls. Then follow the belowJell225 from 11/15 also mhb2 was correct in the post od 11/15. My flash works fine now.

I had success with this.

Go to:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

Select the proper uninstaller program for Flash based on your operating system.

Then go here:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

And reinstall the player.

Have now tried what Jeff225 suggests but with exactly the same results as my earlier method. From what I can see there seem to be so very many methods being used by which websites detect the existance of Flash Player that it is highly unlikely that any one fix will be universal. Presumably this is why Adobe are being less than forthcoming with advice, let alone a proper fix.

Nothing works to resolve this confounding an annoying problem. I've spent about two hours of my admittedly picayune existence trying to look at a weather map that only works with Adobe Flash, which simply will not work in my computer. I have followed the advice of many of the fine volunteers who attempted to fix the problem, alas nothing. Volunteering to fix the problem is commendable, but Is anybody at Adobe reading these plaintive threads of desperation?

Looks like Adobe is in way over their heads with this mess. When they took over Macromedia, I'll bet nobody envisioned this kind of fiasco. Titanic disaster is what it is. Everyone should email their favorite websites and let them know how futile this company's efforts are in resolving these issues. I've been without flash player for over a month now, with no fix on the horizon.
