Flash Player causes browser to freeze/crash when using webcam...

Windows 7, 64 bit

Flash Player 10.0.45.2 and 10.1.51.95 beta (Tried both)

Effected Browsers: Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer

I've tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling multiple times, but as soon as I start my webcam on chatroulette, stickam, justin.tv or any site, my browser freezes.

Also tried reinstalling webcam software, didn't fix it.

It used to work fine, didnt make any changes, then 1 day just started to freeze all browsers.

Tried deleting cache/temporary files also.

Youtube and other flash sites work fine.

Any idea how to fix please?

Hi mordakk, I would think the first thing to do is find out what is or isn't installed in the Flash Player files.

Since you have Win7 64bit, go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash.. Right click and Open the Flash folder

and post back all files listed. The NPSWF files you will need to right click on and click on Properties to find the version

    numbers, which I need.

Then using IE, go to Tools or the Add-ons and find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx should be listed and enabled. If it isn't, post back what is please.

Then using one of the "other" browsers, find the plug-ins and look for SWF vs 10.0.45.2 and make sure it is enabled.

If there is more than one SWF listing, I need to know that also.

    Thanks,

    Hi eidnolb,

I'm experiencing the same problem as Mordakk.

    I couldn't check that folder because I run Win7 32-bit.

I checked my add-ons for Firefox. Shockwave Flash 10.0.45.2 appears only once. I've had problems with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome. I've tried everything from re-installing, to registry edits, ect. They freeze when I initially click "allow" on the Flash Player Plug-in.

Let me know if I should send you anything to help you diagnose me

Hi soccer, If you would please start a thread in your name. It can get too confusing otherwise. Just pick any subject line

you like and with your first post list your operating system and versions of IE and FF that you are using. It will save me

    time in asking.

    Thanks,

I have the exact same problem, but here is a bit more info.

I have a netbook with a built in camera, and when using it, the flash plugin tends to crash quite rarely, maybe every 15-30 miinutes.

However, if I connect my external Logitec usb webcam to the same netbook, it will cause a crash literally every minute or two.

I thought maybe its a problem with my usb webcam, but when I use the same webcam on my desktop machine, I have yet to experience a crash!

My netbook is running windows 7 32bit, and my desktop is running windows 7 64bit. Both have the same browsers and plugin versions, and same webcam drivers.
