Flash Player constantly crashing in Firefox & Safari

In the last week or so, I've started getting the pinwheel of death followed by a Flash Player crash any time I open a website with embedded Flash videos.  This locks up the browser until the full crash has happened.  Then I can submit a report and continue browsing other sites.  I've been pushing many of the crash reports to Adobe.

Specs

- Mac OSX 10.8.5

- 2.4 Ghz Core 2 duo w/ 4GB 667 MHz RAM

- Firefox 35.0.1

- Safari 6.2.2

- Flash Player 16.0.0.296

Steps taken

- updated Flash Player

- Cleared caches

- Unchecked hardware acceleration in Firefox

- Disabled plugins (Google Talk)

- Disabled extensions (Avast)

- Uninstalled software (Flip4Mac)

- Installed Flashblock 1.5.18

None of these steps has made a difference other than Flashblock.  Still when I click on a blocked Flash video, I get the crash.

Please let me know your thoughts on possible next steps.

Hmm, I don't recognize these symptoms on Mac.  Some crash reports from Firefox would be useful for understanding what's going on.  I'm more than happy to take a look.

In Firefox, go to about:crashes

Click the first few links.  Each one will open a new page.  Just paste the address of that resulting page into a reply here.  The first few would be great.

Having the same issue, on a new 5K iMac with the latest OS updates in place. Here's my crash reports for the plugin.

my firefox shockwave crashes when adjusting audio. I changed default web audio to windows media player from vlc. this seems to have fixed my issues. no longer crashing...
