Flash player not installed

New Here ,
May 17, 2018 May 17, 2018

Win 7

64 bit

IE 11

Manage add-on: shockwave flash object enabled

A few hours ago, the IE always showed "a required component is not running properly, please reinstall adobe flash player". Then, after installing it several times (no effect) I finally decided to uninstall it and then I reinstalled it.

Now it shows that flash player is not installed by "This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash!", although after that I have installed quite a few times.

What should I do?

Firefox shows the same message.

My office computer only has IE and Firefox. I don't know if it's allowed to install Chrome.

By the way, what is blocked?

It gets slightly better that after I reach a webpage that requires flash player, it displays well for a couple of seconds (<3 s) then fails and shows "not running properly ...".

I don't know if this clue is helpful.

I installed 360 security guard, and now the corrupted files are all fixed and the flash player is functioning.

Thanks.

We're facing the same and when contacting Adobe support, they mentioned we should be deploying the distribution version, which we do, but that does not change the behavior. Is there a known limitation for FP in the greater China area that we should be aware of?

Any help or comments would be great.

Just for the record, we do use the distributable version in our environment for years and this issue started to occur just now with the latest version.

Hmm, are you expecting Enterprise environments to do something like that? I can hardly imagine this being considered as a solution, but am curious about why this behavior is and what causes it. Can you provide some background information on this, please?

Thanks.

Adobe stopped issuing distribution licenses in China many months ago (I don't have the exact date at the moment), and all licenses were cancelled as of May 7.  A notification was sent to all distribution license holders in China 90 days prior to this.

User's in China must download Flash Player from https://flash.2144.com.  Unfortunately, at this time, there is no distribution offline installer for user's in China region.

As recommended I've updated the Adobe Flash Player and now it is no more working (I'm staying in China). The error message says: 'This player is compatible with your region, please install Flash Player.'

I'm using Windows 10 (bought in Thailand) and Adobe Flash Player is already pre-installed. Do this means that I first have to de-install the Flash Player before I can re-install an older version?

If I got on the site http://flash.2144.cn/  everything is in Chinese and I'm German.

Do I have to do the following? (Quote from Maria, Staff):

  1. Download the Flash Player uninstaller posted at Uninstall Flash Player for Windows
  2. After downloading the uninstaller, close ALL browser's and programs that may use Flash Player
  3. Follow the steps in the tech note to completely remove Flash Player
    • Note: In steps 3 and 4 do NOT delete the FlashInstall32.log and FlashInstall64.log
  4. After uninstalling, reboot the system
  5. Launch IE and navigate to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer to download the Flash Player ActiveX installer for IE
    1. China user's will be redirected to https://flash.2144.com
  6. After the installer file downloads, close all browser's and programs that may use Flash Player
  7. Locate the downloaded installer file, double-click to launch it, and follow on-screen prompts to install Flash Player ActiveX for IE

How can I use the Flash Player in future when using Google Chrome?

Best, Laurenz

Hi Laurenz,

Thanks for the details. Do you see the error message "This player is not compatible with your region, please install Flash Player" for IE/Edge browser? You are correct about Flash Player being pre-installed on Windows 10. But that is only true for ActiveX Flash Player for IE/Edge browser.

On Windows 10, you will not be able to install ActiveX Flash Player. All updates are pushed by Microsoft as part of Windows updates.

For Chrome, instead of downloading Flash Player, update Chrome browser and Flash Player would also get updated along with that.

For users in China, https://flash.2144.com is the official page to download Flash Player and is only supported in Chinese.

Thanks!

Which browser are you referring to?

Since Microsoft embeds Flash Player in IE and Edge on Windows 10, do not delete the embedded Flash Player ActiveX files as this will break Flash Player in IE and Edge.

The embedded version of Flash Player in Chrome should work.  If you're getting the error. Launch Chrome and navigate to https://flash.2144.com/  (unfortunately, the site is only in Chinese at this time) to download the PPAPI plugin for Chrome.
