Hi

Both Flash 10c.ocx and Java is active

Should I change the rest to non-active? (disable them)?

I'm asking, cause one of them is related to AVG, it's called AVG Safe Search avgssie.dll

Hi Milla121, You need to Uninstall FP first so the old FP is completely removed and doesn't cause problems.

Read the information on the link below and follow the instructions for IE & Windows.

http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157   Look for the "Windows" Click on this and "Save" to your desktop

Pay attention to the #3 instructions, this means don't have any of those open(running). Close your browser (IE7) before you run the Uninstaller. You only want to see your desktop when you start the Uninstaller.

You will click on the Uninstaller which you put on your Desktop and click "Run"

When it is finished, Reboot(Restart) your computer TWICE to make sure all of the old FP has been removed.

Post back when you are finished and I will tell you what to do next.

No, you don't have to Disable AVG, it wasn't a problem before since you had FP on your computer as you said.

Hi Milla121, Now you are ready to Install Flash Player 10. Here is the link for that.

ActiveX installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax ....  When this window opens, put this on your DESKTOP, click on "SAVE" ( to your desktop until you are ready to use it)

There are some things you need to do before Installing and they are important.

I am sending an attachment, please read and follow the instructions.

Read it over and if you have any questions please post.

Hi cdjetta, sorry for the mix up!! I told Milla that we need a World clock on here.

Since you uninstalled, then just whenever you want just let me know. I sent Milla a new link so maybe she will be done

and we will take care of yours tomorrow.

Just make a post and I will see it.

Thanks, it was confusing, you both had the same problem but different too.

Hi Milla,  I am glad you are both on the same thread🙂http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

I think there is something wrong with the link. I put it up again and if it doesn't work, then use the one here that I am going to type in.

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/

current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

They say the same, but I had trouble with the one at the top of this page too.

This one is better for now than the home page, it is different, it goes to your Desktop and the other one doesn't I don't think.

What a mixup, I think we need a World Clock here. I know you two have the same problem, but for different reasons.

We'll work it out tomorrow don't worry about it. I should have said cdjetta and milla and not he or she. Ha-Ha

Let me know if this does not work.

Thanks

MILLA, You have to type that link in the browser. It is too long and won't fit on this page. I don't know why.

Milla121, There is a problem on this end. The site is not sending the attachments. I don't know why.

Here is what to do; Before you install:

Stop all running applications, including IE. Disable add ons (temporarily), make sure no applications are in the Windows system

tray (bottom by clock) that would be using Flash Player.

Disconnect from the Internet and Temporarily Disable any realtime Anti-Virus running in the background(AVG, etc.)

Go to Tools, Internet Options, click on Security Tab, Set to Medium: Default level allows you to view Flash Content. If you have a

Custom level set, click on Custom level, find the section "ActiveX controls and plug-ins", Set "Download Signed ActiveX Controls" to

"Prompt". Set "Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins" to "Prompt".

Now Run the INSTALLER FROM YOUR DESKTOP

When it is finished, REBOOT (ONCE)  RE-ENABLE YOUR ANTI-VIRUS AND RECONNECT TO THE INTERNET

Go back to Manage add ons and Enable Shockwave Flash Object and Java ONLY. Go to the sites you were having

problems with and see if they are now working. If they are, then you can enable one add on at a time and test it,

that way you will know which add on is causing a problem, if any.

Hi!

I tried now, step by step, but it's still the same problem.

Do you think it will go away if I update to IE8?

Hi Milla121  No I don't Milla and I'll tell you why. So many people have removed IE8 and went back to IE7. I read

so many forums, and even Microsoft knows it is a problem, they have instructions on how to remove it. Going to

IE8 will not help in any way with Flash Player. You would have the same problem and maybe more.

I just found out this morning that the web site I gave you is not working. So we will use Adobe. There are reasons

when Flash Player will not download and reasons it will not Install or work on some computers. Once that is taken

care of then there is no problem.

Let me get the links ready for you and some instructions. They won't be so complicated since after you get your

computer ready, Adobe does the rest; no Desktop stuff to deal with. It really is easy.

I will post back soon.

What time of day is it where you are so I have some idea when it is best to give you the information.

What Country are you in? I think you know I am in the U.S. I have a world clock so I can check.

Thanks Milla, don't worry, we'll get it done:-)

Hi Milla121, So where you are it is night time. As I am typing this it is 16:40 on 11/21/09. Funny huh?

I have a friend in Australia and he says I am 14 hours behind them and I live in the past and I should

catch up!!

Thanks for the time info, that helps me and probably you too.

No, I wouldn't bother to do anything yet. If you need to Enable any Add ons so you can use your

computer, that is ok. We'll have to do some changes before we begin again. I'm sorry that web site

was not working. I didn't know that until another poster this morning told me. I checked it and the poster was

correct. The last time I checked it was about 2 weeks ago and it was working.

What we'll do is I will try to get the information sent to you so you will have it tomorrow. I'll get it ready and

post it for you tonight.

Is that ok with you?

Hi Milla121, The following link is to install and Save to your Desktop until you are ready to run it.

I checked it several times today and it is working.

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Things to Do before you Run the Installer

Go to Tools and click on Security tab, set security to Medium: Default level allows you to view Flash content.

If you have any Custom level set, then click on Custom, look for the section "ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and set (click box) to

"Download Signed ActiveX Controls to "Prompt". Set "Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins" to "Prompt"

Close all browser windows and make sure no applications are in the Windows system tray (bottom by the clock) that would be

using Flash Player at the time of INSTALLING

Disconnect from the Internet, and Temporarily DISABLE any realtime Anti-Virus running in the background, AVG, Windows Defender, etc.

RUN THE INSTALLER FROM YOUR DESKTOP. When it is finished, Reboot once. Re-Enable your Anti-Virus programs.

Re-Connect to the Internet  Go to Manage add ons and make sure Shockwave Flash Object and Java are Enabled. Don't Enable any other

Add ons yet.

Now go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about   If you have done everything properly this Adobe site will tell you what version

of Flash Player you have installed. A small area will say "Version Information" 10.0.32.18  If you don't see that, post back and tell me.

If you have any questions about any of these procedures before you start, please post.

Thanks Milla

P.S. Post back anyway Milla because I want you to check your add ons to be sure what should be there is there.
