Hello All, Problem with new Flash Update...

Hi Community-

I recently updated (or it updated on its own) my Adobe Flash Player to Version 11.8.800. I use both the Chrome and Internet Explorer (10) web browsers, both browsers have this version/edition of flash.

Since it installed I can no longer download videos/music using my RealPlayer downloader program. Specifically content from archive.org. All of the material I am trying to download is free, public domain stuff, so it shouldn't (never has been) bloacked from being downloaded like say a copyrighted YouTube video or something.

Do any of you guys/gals know what's up? Everything is enabled and good to go. I've troubleshot everything. DO I need to uninstall the new Flash and use an old version? Is this wise? I hope someone can offer/lend a little advice.

Thank you all.

CB

I don't use (and haven't for many years) Reaplayer.

There's a plugin for Firefox called Ant Video Downloader that downloads EVERYTHING but DailyMotion Videos and VEVO or EMI vids on YouTube.

1. Firefox uses much less hard drive space and procesor than Chrome.

2. Ant Video downloader is already open and ready (once you've installed it in Firefox, of course) so you DON'T need to have spearate app (RealPlayer) installed to do the same thing (download videos).

Dear C F,

Thanks for the timely reply. Alot of what I was used to downloading is streaming stuff (but still free and un copyrighted). I'l, for sure, load Firefox and give your advice a run. Thanks again.

I won't address the copyright because what you download is none of my business. I was simply recommending something that will take less space on your system and use a lot less processor than the way you're doing it now. My experience with RealPlayer is that it "doesn't play well" with other video apps, like Flash Player.

Ant Video downloader on the other hand, has never given me any trouble.
