Help/Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin

New Here ,
Dec 20, 2013 Dec 20, 2013

I uninstalled the flash player plugin, thinking I could then reinstall it & I'd quit getting "need to up flash player" message.  Now I can't get it back & I can't view any cards like I use to & I can' get the flash player or plug in.  They keep saying that there intergrated into my Windows 8.  Well, something isn't working & I sure can't get any help from the so called support team.  Can you please help this old dumby??????

Flash Player IS integrated into Internet Explorer in Windows 8. In fact, there's a Windows update that you have to dig pretty deep to find and uninstall or you CAN'T uninstall the plugin for IE.  Also, you CAN'T update it or instyall it from here. You MUST do that through Windows Update.

Here's the thing that makes everything I just wrote irrelevant. WIndows 8 has forced usres to upgrade(?) to Internet Exploder 11, which has caused nothing but trouble everywhere it's been.

Microsoft has been aware of the problems since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.

Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.

I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.

Firefox (from Mozilla)

Opera (from Opera)

Safari (from Apple)

Chrome (from Google)

ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

Not quite; nobody is ever forced to install any update or upgrade.  They are offered through Windows Update, but users can always decline it.  Many users I know wait a few months before installing a major upgrade.

And there is also the Blocker Toolkit that Microsoft offers for every big upgrade: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40722
