Question

How can I download an old version of Flash?

The newest version of Flash broke my billing system back office. The developers of this billing system are based overseas and are extremely unreliable so I cannot depend on them to fix this in a timely manner. It could be 2 days or 2 months. I just don't know.

In other words, the newest version of flash broke the program I need to do my job. I need to rollback to a previous version as soon as possible.

I found a file on this forum called "fp9_archive.zip" which contains old versions of flash. However, everytime I try to install any version besides 9r124. I get this error:

"MessageBox: 12582960,"The version of Adobe® Flash® Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version.
Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version."

Please help me! I am not a developer or an IT guy. I am just an accountant who foolishly clicked "update flash" when I was spammed to update it. Now I am banging my head against the wall because there are no clear and concise directions on how to roll it back.

    Jason,

I am no expert but I was looking to solve a problem I have and I ran accross information that may help you.

How to get previous versions of Flash Player (Note: Adobe supports and recommends the latest Flash Player.)

If you are a Flash developer and require a previous version of Flash Player for testing detection schemes, refer to "Archived Flash Players available for testing purposes" ( TechNote tn_14266).

Adobe has made these archived players available for download at the request of the Flash developer community. Adobe Technical Support does not provide support for the installation or use of these old players. These are not intended for general use.

The following may help you solve your problem.

Error while installing older version: The version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version

If you previously installed a later version of Flash Player for Internet Explorer, you may be prevented from installing an earlier version. For example, if you installed Flash Player 9,0,115,0, and attempted to install version 9,0,47,0 the installation would fail. In this case follow the instructions in "Safe versions security restrictions when installing Flash Player" ( TechNote kb402435).

Here is more information I found about unistalling that may help you.
But I would try TechNote kb402435 above first because it looks like it is directly related to your problem.

    Uninstall all previous versions.
Before you install Flash Player for any Windows browser, uninstall all previous versions. For instructions on removing the player, please see "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control" ( TechNote 14157).

Note: All applications must be closed before you run the Flash Player uninstaller. Quit all running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, and all Instant Messenger clients. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player are still in memory.

    Good luck.

    Regards,
    Bob
