A while ago I changed the settings on Flash Player from "Allow Adobe to install updates" to "Notify me to install updates", thinking that the first setting therefore wouldn't notify me and would just update, then ask me if I wanted to reboot now or later! I've since discovered that's not the case and the second setting requires a manual update, so I'm wanting to change it back again so it updates automatically. Can someone tell me how that's done?
I've seen something in a help area about going to Control Panel > Flash Player, but this isn't a direct option on my PC. I'm using Windows XP.
Thanks.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
You should have a "Flash Player (32-bit)" control panel in your Windows control panels. If you double click that, simply go to the Advanced tab and select "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" in the Updates section.

Thanks,

Sorry, but I already mentioned above that I don't have that, or at least I can't find it!
When I go to Start and Control Panel it says "Pick a category" and there are 10 options, which include things like Appearance and Themes, Network and Internet Connections, Add or Remove Programs, etc...
So please can you tell me where I can find it? Also, the simpler you can explain things the better!
Thanks.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
On the left hand side of the control panel window there is a link that says "Switch to Classic View".

Click that and then the Flash Player control panel should appear.

Thanks! I've found it now. Strangely it was already on that setting, although just a couple of days ago Flash Player popped up with another update message and prompted me to download it from the site. I guess I'll have to see what happens next time.
By the way, while I'm here, I want to add that my experience in trying to get this sorted out with Adobe over the last couple of days has been awful. The website, including these forums, is an absolute maze to try and navigate round; definitely one of the worst I've ever seen. Topped off by the fact that when you arrive in these forums as a newcomer it's not even obvious how to go about posting!! It took me 5 minutes to try and find how to join this place. Why isn't there a link to register next to where you can sign in?!
Also, aside from the forum support which seems quite good, I go away with the impression that Adobe are extremely difficult to get hold of and they'd rather that nobody contacted them. There's not even any email support for whatever you want to write to them about, which I think is crazy. It's like they want to hide away and not bother with the rif-raf customer. Very poor experience, which I'd rate about 1 out of 10.
