Is an unsolicited Flash Player download legit?

I continuously keep getting unsolicited FP update packages. I always delete them. The latest landed on my Mac laptop today. It is called Adobe Flash Player Install Manager.app. I risked clicking on it, and I got a pop-up window with the heading Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller. It presented 2 buttons: Quit and Uninstall. I pressed Quit.

Can anyone explain what's going on with these unsolicited update drops? How do I know whether they are legit? Is Adobe Flash Player still in use? For what?

No, Adobe really, really can't fix the hack. Think of it this way. Suppose you get a letter pretending to be from your bank, trying to trick you into sending money. Can your bank stop people writing and sending that letter? Clearly not.

HOWEVER, Adobe can try to shut down any site which does this attack pretending to be Adobe (using trademark law). Email phishing@adobe.com with details. SEe https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/security/alertus.html

Sounds like you've been tricked into running malware - which will have installed nasty things on your computer. The people who create this evil stuff know that by pretending to be connected to trusted software, some people will be tricked. If you think you need to update Flash always go to http://get.adobe.com/flash .

I HAVE the same thing. I JUST went AROUND in circles with someone in the support team.  i asked them HOW COME THIS SAYS ITS NOT FROM THE APP STORE.  I SMELL A SCAM.  they were helpfull a bit but not enough to get a WARM AND FUZZY FEELING on doing anymore downloads.

I agree we don't get a WARM AND FUZZY feeling from Tech Service anymore. I
hang up and try two or three times before I get a knowledgable tech that
doesn't read out of a book. The good news is there was a post after your
by a tech that seems to have the answer. We were scammed😕😕
