i have tried every single solution suggested by youtube, adobe, and whoever else has suggestions, and nothing works. in fact the problem continues to worsen. now i can't watch any youtube whatsoever. i get the javascript error everytime. i need to watch many of these videos for my work, and i CAN'T! can anyone help solve this issue before i'm homeless or commit suicide?

I turned off my Norton ad blocker and voila! I can view videos again.

I have been getting the same problems in VeohTV Beta as well, but a friend of mine has no problems whatsoever, so I dont know what is going on..

I agree with TJX21 why do all this ! I'll wait til youtube fixes the problem at there end ,why should I have to edit my computer settings and make surfing the net a pain in the ass for the reason of one websites problem , NO THANKS!!

My system is based on Vista, 32bit.
I disabled my pop up blockers, made several settings in the internet options, turned off my firewall, installed, deinstalled javascript, java, my browser (firefox) , but nothing works!
Also isntalled the activeX setup with flash player and changed my resolution, but no way!

Btw, Youtube is displayed totally wrong! everything among each other! Can't find any help!

Are you sure it's only Youtube? ... in my case nothing that needs Flash works.

Does Flash Install, but you can’t view content on any site?

What browser, what operating system… need more info please.

I have Symantec Client Firewall installed in addition to my Routers built in firewall, and I have found that turning off the Symantec firewall has resolved my issue.

It has to be something to do with the way Youtube detects what version of Flash player you have because if I use the link to adobe above it correctly displays my Flash player version.

I would suggest everybody bombards Youtube with complaints, maybe then they will do something about it!

Not ideal but it's a work around!

Also checked for any .ocx being left after I run Uninstall_Flash_Player.exe but everything seems to be removed with the Uninstall process.

When I try the standalone installation file I get something like this:

To resolve this, download the uninstaller for Flash Player from "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control" (TechNote tn_14157).

1. Select Start.
2. Select Run.
3. Type cmd
4. In the command window, type the following:
uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean
5. This will remove all entries in the system registry and resolve this issue.

Note: The uninstall_flash_player.exe file must be saved to the same directory that the command window is in, for example C:\.

That notice has been popping in and out on their help page all day - I keep thinking maybe they fixed it, only to find that, no, it still isn't working properly (in other words, the way it did for that last few years). When the notice is not showing, their standard troubleshooting steps don't even allude to the acknowledged fact that nothing is actually wrong on the user's end.

In the meantime, permitting the HTML string "width=" at youtube.com does work around the issue nicely for us. We're running Norton Internet Security 2007's Ad Blocker - which was inexplicably stripped out of the NIS 2008 add-on pack.

i've been trying to get this thing to work for a little over a month now. i could sort of watch things on youtube but only if it was on someones page. i never understood why but whatever. so the other day i got a friend of mine that's good with computers (allegedly) to come and fix this for me...he couldn't do it.(my computer is alot faster though) so when he left i started playing with the computer (which i was told not to do 😃 ) and i went to TOOL-->INTERNET OPTIONS-->SECURITY-->CUSTOM LEVEL (this if for IE7) and a little ways down there is an option that says something like display video and animation on a website that doesn't have a media player or something like that. i'm not sure about the exact wording but i enabled that and went back to youtube and it worked.

i know that the suggestions on here only seem to work for a surprisingly small amount of ppl but i wanted to share this anyway.

Well folks it's all better now, at least for me and IE 7. Just popped into YOUTUBE (after getting an customer satisfaction questionare email), played a video and everything works fine without me having to turn off my Norton. So thanks to everyone who sent emails to youtube! We did it man! We finally made it baby! We won! WE helped FIX the system. Have yourselves a drink!

Ok, I was able to fix my lastest problem, the one that didn't allow me to install it saying "I didn't have the most current version".
To fix that, I put uninstall_flash_player.exe in C:\ and run it from CMD.

Now I'm back to my original problem. Windows says Flash Player is installed but none of the websites works (ie: MLB.COM, YOUTUBE, etc).

Any idea?

I am still experiencing the problem. I cannot install flash player now either. I was told to delete my version of flash player. Iv'e enabled JAVA, I click install now and it just goes back to the main screen. Nothing happens.
Frustrating to say the least.

Well I still stand by my comment that everything is alright, youtube should work fine now even if you have norton turned on with ad blocking.

Agreed - the Youtube issue with ad blocking has been resolved for us as well.

Others may well have lingering issues not related to Youtube's snafu.

Good news !!! , I have fixed my problem by installing SubInACL and running reset.cmd. I followed the instructions in this doc:

It looks like, in my case, it was a permission issue.

Don't forget to create a backup of your registry (EXPORT) if you are going to try this solution, in case something bad happens. I still don't know if my pc will be working fine if I reboot, but at least my Flash Player is working again :)

No true... Only YouTube works for me now in firefox... Myspace, NBC and every other site that uses the flash player to show videos does NOT work. How would I go about fixing it? I downloaded some little thing a while ago and they worked, but then a few days later they all stopped again, and then a few days later youtube started working again and still does, but no others. This is where I am stuck at.
