I have a Core 2 Duo Macbook running MacOSX 10.6.8. I have Flash 32.0.0.238 installed . There's an update available, but installation stops after 1-2%. The DMG downloaded is about 2/3 the size of usual Flash updates; has support for some processor architectures been dropped?
Not supported OS X 10.6.

Above all, 10.6 has ended Apple support.

A recent change required to support macOS 10.15 results in Flash Player no longer installing on older versions. This change is effective as of Flash Player 32.0.0.255.
Note that, while installation wasn't blocked, OS X 10.6 hasn't been supported for several years.

Well it worked until the latest update. The installer stops at 2% and fails. The option to go back to the old installed version that worked would have been nice. I still sell refurbed Macs with 10.6. Somebody did something on purpose.

Yeah. Somebody in this case would be Apple. MacOS 10.6 hasn't had an update since 2011. Changes to code signing and MacOS framework requirements generally drive our deprecation strategy. We don't generally try to break things, but when changes to the underlying OS force our hand, we're going to prioritize supporting current OS versions, which is what happened here.
