Question

Mac Flash Freeze / Lockup

I've been running into a problem where sites seem to lock up my mac while using flash and safari. I've tried to uninstall flash. I noticed that when it happens, the number of flash player threads multiplies - see attached image. I've had as many as 1600 flash threads on the processor during a lockup. This can't be normal?

I'm running 10.10.5 on a late 2014 27" imac retina.

Any help would be appreciated.

To give you any useful advice, I'm going to need to know more about your computer and browser:

    Above explains the issue

Thanks.  I've heard anecdotal reports about similar symptoms in older Flash Players, but I'm pretty sure they were resolved.

It's odd that running the uninstaller would cause this.  That's not making a lot of sense to me.  I'm thinking it's more likely that the content running in the background was just generating a lot of threads, and you ran the installer (which waits for you to close Flash).

Is there a URL and/or set of steps where you consistently see tons of threads generated?  If we can reproduce it under a debugger, it should be fairly straightforward to figure it out.
