It's bad enough we have to endure your endless updates but when you try and trick users into installing McAfee AV its a sign that you've lost the plot.

I've been in IT for 25 years and seen many companies come and go. Goodbye Abode, you deserve to die.

All I can say is I think Adobe is really making a huge mistake. I forgot how much I resent them for this trickery approach. Obviously this shows the slime-balls they really are. I'm sure they'll go out of business soon. They must be hurting hard if they have to trick customers. That's the kind of stuff con-artists do. I held Adobe to a higher standard. Obviously I was wrong.

There's a special place in hell for the scum who negotiate these bundled crapware download/installations.  I'm just grateful that Microsoft is doing its job of defending Windows 10 users, as visible in this beautiful screenshot:

The article you link to is from 1.5 years ago.  Google and Firefox continue to support Flash Player.  At this time Flash Player is the only NPAPI plugin supported by Firefox.

While Flash Player isn't the best solution for all applications, it is still viable and appropriate for some applications.

The McAfee nonsense has always bugged me but this latest update suggests you have reached new heights of incompetence. I've been trying to update for the past few days to version 18.0.0.194 or whatever it is but kept getting a connection error within the installer. After wondering why the hell we need an installer in the first place, a thought occurred to me: I wonder what happens if I opt in for the McAfee ****ware. I check the box, run the installer and lo and behold, the download begins and flash installs.... along with McAfee of course.

Now what the hell is that about? Are you guys a bunch of dicks or just incompetent?

One more profanity-laced post from you, and I will have you banned from this forum.

At first I thought you were talking about me, but I didn't use any profanity. I felt like it, but resisted. I've probably had this discussion with at least a dozen people, but whatever marketing genius at Adobe thought this one up should be hanged. This has to be one of the dumbest tactics possible for a company traditionally held in high regard. Did they really think anyone would like this.

Very stupid marketing!

Shame on you Adobe. Users are obligated to install Adobe's software to view web pages correctly, not because they want to. You have no right to slip this McAfee crap on users that didn't ask for it. I believe it's criminal. Unfortunately you're big money and we're just the little pee-on users. Shame on you for your unethical practices. Next you've got your users forced into your cloud based applications (Creative Suite etc.). I hope your former customers discover an alternative so you can get what you deserve for your slimy business practices. I don't like your style - and I used to respect you.

And again. Not asked, no options and again this unwanted malware from Mcafee on my working system. And again it screws up with my other security scanner. And again the computer locks up when trying to remove that software. And again the task list is filled up with dozens of tasks that will slow the computer down to 20% speed. And again the program refuses to uninstall several times. Only way to get rid of it was a rollback to former restore point. And again this has hit a lot of our systems in all our locations spread all over the world. And again our trouble ticket system is flooded with complaints.

Usually i'm a real true adobe fanatic.

But as this is ongoing now for years, and Adobe obviously does not understand, that the overwhelming majority of Flash Player users do NOT WANT to be confronted with undesired malware installations, we have now decided to remove Adobe Flash player and all kind of Mcafee Software from all our over 20.000 computer systems worldwide. Further all Adobe websites, according IP addresses connected to Adobe and Mcafee are now blocked by our firewalls and our content filtering will not allow anything that contains those company names. The use of Adobe and Mcafee products is now explicitly forbidden. That is the result of such behavior.

We all know what happened to Yahoo, when they started to breach into systems and configure themselves like usually only malware does. Look at their stocks. Right. They are losing and losing and losing value. Are you definitely convinced that you and your products are that important and there is no alternative?

You just lost a worldwide company as your customer. We aren't the first. We aren't the last. Congratulations. Give us a call when you decide to start acting professional again. Or no. Wait. We call you, when we think you do.

Btw we have also now called Mcafee Germany and told them that we are removing them as our supplier for our hard disk encryption and they are not considered in future deliveries of the product. They were like shocked and asking why we have decided so. The answer was obvious: "Regarding this continually installation of software over updates from Adobe with a malware-like behavior and style which just caused us over 200 hrs of IT support. We are not going to support this very unprofessional business style. So we are going to remove any kind of McAfee software and change to a professional supplier."

It is now 2 years and 4 months later and I just experienced the same issue. I clicked to download the update, my browser opened and loaded a step-by-step page from Adobe, while immediately the update .exe AND McAfee installers were downloading simultaneously. I carefully checked all active tabs, but there was only one Adobe webpage opened without any choices or checkboxes.

I only have one explanation for this: somehow, when clicking "download" you agree (or agreed in the past by installing the first version of this software) that Adobe is allowed to install what they want on your computer, if you like it or not. If true, and no, I'm not going through the terms and conditions (it is already bordeline madness that I have to login to this page to express my very, very disappointed feelings towards this bad practice), I abhorr this practice and will reconsider future purchases towards Adobe software.

All in all, this whole process of finding out someone (Adobe) messes around with your PC, finding out whether this is normal (it seems so) and expressing my concerns here, took a considerable amount of very expensive time, which is lost forever. I could better have spent that time to find out whether this practice is prohibited or allowed by law, which I doubt very much.

Thanks but no thanks. Beware.

OP is 100%  totally correct. There is no excuse for this crap. Diable the option by default. I don't have time for this and I see now why Apple is blocking flash.
