I can play videos on other websites, but for some reason when I click on a video at nfl.com, I just get a gray screen with no picture or sound. Thoughts?

I have the exact same issue. Firefox and IE10 will play NFL live content just fine, but IE11 won't, even when put in compatibility view.
As to the Mike M's request, to be honest, I fail to see how the info you're requesting helps or is necessary? And I'm a system builder.
My suggestion to you is to go to say http://www.giants.com/index.html and attemp to listen to a "live" show, not a archieved one using Internet Explorer 11 and you're quickly find live content doesn't play. Archieved content does, but not live!
BTW live boradcasts at Giants.com are usually broadcast prior to, during, or after a game, or every morning (M-F) between 9:30-1030EDT. This would probably be true to most NFL teams on the NFL site.
Anyway the only way to listen to live content there is with Firefox now since IE11 is embedded into Windows 8.1

Wow. I'll bet when you go to the Dr. and they ask you what's wrong, you just tell them it's "none of their damn business", don't you?

First off this isn't my first rodeo at forums!
Second, YES, you do need system specs, I get that, BUT... there's NO reason to need all that info requested per the question asked by the OP. Somewhere common sense should have come in play here. Period.
My question was NOT meant to be condescending, but rather reasonable since I felt the info requested was overkill for the issue discussed. Obviously I'm at a place where we'd rather attack than be civil and use good common sense.
I'll stick to the more civil forums and stay out of here.

This is not an Adobe problem, it is an Internet Explorer 11 problem. My work around is to add sites that are not working to compatibility view. to do this on IE11 click on the gear shift at the top right, then click Compatibility View Settings and add NFL.com and any other site to this list your video should now play!!!!!!!!!(This works great for problems with you tube as well)

You're mostly right. It IS an IE11 problem. Yes, Compatibility View helps, but not in all cases and you have to enable it for each page individually (Major P.I.T.A.). YouTube now uses Javascript to detect Flash Player, and if it isn't detected, the page switches to HTML5 video playback which requires no plugin.
