Please help.. Error when installing Adobe Flash Player: 'Failed to Register'

  • Want to install Adobe Flash Player 18.0.0.232
  • I've got rights on all the folders
  • I'm the main user/admin

I want to install Adobe Flash again on my machine. It did work, but I've deleted it. But now, everytime when I'm trying to install Adobe Flash player I get the error 'Adobe Flash failed to register'.

So what did I try so far..

1. Deleted Adobe Flash acording to this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

2. I've downloaded the new Adobe Flash version 18.0.0.232

3. Started the installation. but at 77% I get the error Adobe Flash 'Failed to Register'

4. To check if something was installed, I went to the Check now button. Nothing was installed.. Flash Player Help

5. Also checked the configuration screen. Flash 32 bit, said it wasn't installed.

6. After this, I'd deleted the partialy installation of Adobe Flash again by the steps in the file Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

7. I also deleted the files in de Windows Register:

32-bit Flash Player on 32-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia

32-bit Flash Player on 64-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Macromedia

64-bit Flash Player on 64-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia

8. I restarted my PC and tried the following steps: How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player?

9. Again the 'Failed to Register' error opent in my screen with the installation of Adobe Flash.

10. Restarted my PC, Uninstalled flash and restarted my PC again.

've deselected ActiveX filtering in IE11.

Flash isn't available als a plugin in IE11.

Can anybody help?

Do you have anti-virus software running?  If so, please disable it and try installing again.

Try using the MSI installer https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_18_active_x.msi

With the MSI file I get the following error:

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action NewCustomerAction1, location: ...InstallAX_18_0_0_...

So I gues the problem is the ActiveX registration/installation?

Can you post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
