Dear All,

Every time I try to open a document with the flash player a little puzzle piece with a frown face appears with a black background.

This just started happening although I have check and have the latest version 23.0.0.0 on my chrome browser.

I do not have any other flash player installed and have tried disabling this shockwave one to no success.

The problem is persisting and I can't find a solution.

I hope someone here can help.

Thanks,

Emilie Mac Meekin

If you haven't rebooted your computer since the problem started, that's a great place to start.

Since Flash Player is a built-in component of Chrome, there's not a lot to install/uninstall; however, the version number 23.0.0.0 should be 23.0.0.207.  I'm thinking that something went wrong when Chrome updated the Flash component.

The easiest thing to try next is to just uninstall and reinstall Chrome.  If you've logged into Chrome with your Google account, it should preserve and restore all of your history, bookmarks, etc.. once you sign back in.

I believe that Chrome takes a few minutes to actually download Flash Player after you do a fresh install, so if you go to a Flash site and it doesn't work, don't panic.  Give it ~10 minutes and everything should be good to go.

If you're still stuck, please let me know.

Chrome browser includes Flash Player built-in. Google Chrome will automatically update when new versions of Flash Player are available. 23.0.0.207 is latest version, you can visit the page Adobe - Flash Player and check if your browser has the latest version of flash player
