Every five minutes or so I keep getting warning signs that Shockwave player is either busy or has stopped working do I want to continue or stop plugin. How can I fix this problem? I have refreshed firefox. I have uninstalled and re-installed and still this problem persists.

Can you post a link to where this happens? A screenshot may help as well: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933
Also your operating system and Shockwave Player version?

I have the same issues as the original poster. This happens at work under Windows 7. This happens at home with Windows 8. It happens all over the web. It happens with Firefox, Chrome and IE. I have the latest version of all software installed. The Windows 8 box is brand new and the Adobe products are a few of the first things I installed.
The message is always in a pop-up box "Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will complete." Most times I get Continue or Stop Plugin buttons... occasionally I see a button to debug the code.
Why does this happen everywhere regardless of PC, browser, and operating systems?
Thanks....
Paul

We haven't heard anything back from the o/p; but your message is clearly from Flash Player, not Shockwave Player.

Can't really say I understand the difference between Shockwave Player, Flash Player and an error message that says Shockwave Flash. If, as you suggest, it is a Flash problem, why would it say Shockwave Flash? Really curious.
Thanks.... Paul

It's a historic thing; it was that way when Adobe acquired the software from Macromedia. I know it's very confusing, especially since the two are really different softwares.
I could move the discussion to the Flash Player forum, but the original poster has never confirmed whether it is a Shockwave Player or Flash Player issue (by posting a link or a screenshot).

The dialog that you're describing is called the Slow Script Dialog, and we display it when we see Flash content using an inordinate amount of CPU time. If you're on a slow machine, or using content that's not written well, we'll throw this dialog instead of letting the content make Flash unresponsive.
If you haven't rebooted since you started running into this, that's a fantastic place to start.
If you're using lots of simultaneous tabs, or doing a lot of multitasking, you might try doing less stuff in parallel to see if you encounter the dialog less frequently
