Since I am not able to download flash player 10 version 10.0.32.18 directly from adobe.com, what is the better alternative on how to download it to my PC?
I use Windows Vista with Vista Service pack 2 and IE7 browser
Should I
1. go to a trusted website such as a local newspaper website or local TV station website ( I live in a large metro area in the US) that requires the flash player 10,
2. then get the prompt that says" This website requires the following active x control: Adobe Flash Player Installer from Adobe systems"
3. Then click on download active X
4. then run the "adobe Flash Player Installer "
OR
use the link http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax .exe.
which is the advised way from ADOBE to procede?
I notice the first way (going to a site that requires flash player) I described shows the following entry in the internet log
http://fpdownload2.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab
the second method shows
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax .exe.
I experimented with both and
Both seem to install flash player 10 active x version 10.0.32.18 in the add/remove programs portion of the windows control panel
and both seem to install the following in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\flash
Flash10c.ocx
FlashUtility10c
uninstall_activeX
and all are digitally signed by ADOBE
Not being sure which is the best method of proper/secur installation, I have deleted flash palyer 10 and await soem feed back from ADOBE as to the best of these two options.
part of me feels that if I did not have flash player and went to a site that required it, I would just do the install active x and run the flash palyer installer.
But since I know of the second option, I now have doubts. All help appreciated
