Solved? Flash player jerky and freezes browser

For months news feeds from AOL, Google and Yahoo were very jerky and often froze the browser, normally Firefox.

VERY frequent crash reports received and reported.

VERY frequent Stop Script warnings were often simultaneous.

I tried everything recommended be Adobe, Firefox and AOL.

NOTHING worked.

Finally I did a "fresh" Flash Player uninstall and for the first time in many months the browsers all work perfectly.

I will now avoid Flash forever if necessary.

I just hope this helps others who may be driven to buying new computers trying to fix this.

Does Adobe have any comments?

Why were all the crash reports, probably a hundred or more, ignored?

    When you do, do it right.

    No sense leaving anything Flash installed that will cause problems again.

    The Flash Player uninstaller executes on both 64-bit and 32-bit version of the Windows operating systems.

    I just found two idiot websites that still use flash. 

    Naturally both of their videos froze. 

    Neither one would even respond to "settings".

    Very consistent 100% failure on Adobe's part..

    All other sites and browsers still work fine.

    One full week of Flash free videos web use.

    Even sites that still use Flash play better now.

    Naturally HTML5 videos always play perfectly.


    I haven't been so lucky: YouTube videos on Facebook don't work at all. I get a thumbnail, and when I click on them, they go black...and sometimes I get sound, but since there are no "controls", I can't turn them off.  I've been using Firefox for 4 years, but I had to uninstall that because I got NO videos anywhere, with or without Flash, so I'm using IE now, but now I'm having problems with IE AND Windows Explorer crashing daily...and my gmail won't load unless I switch to basic. Something evil is going on.  I'm at the point that I don't want to even open my laptop any more.  I frequent Facebook because that's how I keep in touch with my grand-children and far away family, but I can't see videos they post of themselves...or see news feeds on any other site: (  And for about 5 minutes I could watch videos on PBS (like I could last year), but now that site isn't working for me either.  And iTunes is buggy too. I have a suspicion my internet connection has been compromised....I don't have proof of that, but all signs point to it, and since so many security sites have said that Adobe updates are one way hackers mess with our computers, I'm hoping that isn't the case with me. This last couple months has been hell, between all the updates from Adobe, Firefox, Google, iTunes and Windows, they've all screwed up my computer! and then there's java!

    I've been having problems with Flash for months now. I use Firefox 42 (which runs Flash in protected mode because Adobe Flash is vulnerable to hackers). My symptoms have been that from moment to moment or day to day (via Firefox) I can then can't watch YouTube videos on Facebook or on YouTube. So I switched to IE, and could watch them on both sites...then I only had sound and no video on IE. I got sick of all the bull#$%^ and uninstalled Adobe Flash a week ago, and could watch YouTube videos via Firefox, on Facebook and YouTube and via IE....then the very next day I couldn't via Firefox. I've spent two weeks online, on Firefox, Adobe, Facebook and YouTube support sites, doing everything I've been instructed to do...and I mean everything, to no avail.  So yesterday I re-installed Adobe Flash 19 because an expert at Firefox told me I should try it because Adobe fixed some security flaws, and for about a half hour I could watch YouTube vids via Firefox, on Facebook and YouTube...then later that evening it was back to black: no sound no video.  SO, I uninstalled Adobe Flash about an hour ago, and can watch vids via Firefox on FB and YT...for now.  And here's the really screwy thing: Up to a year ago, I could watch videos on PBS (which is my go-to TV when I'm out of town), then, all of a sudden I couldn't...until I uninstalled Flash,and for the first time in a year I can watch my beloved PBS videos....even on Firefox. And without Adobe Flash there's no "game" playing on Facebook.  It (YouTube videos) work one minute and not the next...either with or without Adobe Flash...and I have all the current video drivers.  Either Adobe, Firefox, IE, Windows, Facebook and YouTube know something we don't know...and won't tell us something we need to know, OR they don't know, in which case all these "support groups" are a waste of time, because as I said, I've followed their advice to the letter...and I'm not completely stupid, just not 100% computer savvy, but I shouldn't have to be...because that's what "they" are, and we should be able to trust them.  My ONLY conclusion is that hackers are keeping a step in front of everyone (Adobe and Java), and using both to hack into our computers and wreak havoc.  IF THAT'S the case, then I wish "they'd" say so!!

      My experience was exactly the same as yours.  The only difference I can see is that I used the Flash Uninstaller to remove all traces of Flash.  And so far everything works perfectly again. I did miss out on watching 2 ads that wouldn't load..  I cannot address games at all.

      Post Flash:  All browsers work perfectly.  After 6 hours browsing there was one advertisement that didn't auto play and one news feed that wouldn't open.  I suspect numerous ads froze without loading due to not having Flash but the pages load faster. No negatives at all, especially compared to having Flash installed.  Let me know when or if all those crash reports I submitted finally produce results.

      Sure is quiet here.   Well two full browsing days without Flash.  So far 3 videos would not play, and two of those were ads.

      For the first time in months EVERYTHING else just works perfectly.

      For the first time in months all browsers like Firefox, Chrome and IE all function as they should. 

      They all load fast and do not freeze.  

      Yahoo, Google News, AOL and You Tube video feeds all play perfectly, every time. 

      You may also notice that there is no response or reaction from Adobe here. 

      Oh well, just uninstall Flash. 

      Doing that fixed every web video problem I had.and it will probably fix yours too.
