I need to uninstall flash player from 1200 machines (Windows) silently.

I have Flash player uninstaller, it asks to close the browser to uninstall Flash.

Is it possible to uninstall flash player silently? If yes, please provide me the uninstaller

Hi,

You can uninstall Flash player silently using command line (Run as administrator):

"Name of the uninstaller" -uninstall

Please make sure that flash content is not playing on the browsers for seamless un-installation.

Thanks!

But, i need to push the uninstaller from SCCM console to all the machines. Is it possible to push the uninstaller with admin rights?

Hi,

Could you please mention why you need to uninstall FP. Instead, we would recommend you to move to the recent released version of Flash Player (24.0.0.194).

Thanks

Hi,

Only one Flash Player version at a time is installed on a machine. If you try to install a higher version, Flash Player will be upgraded to the latest version.

Where specifically are you looking for the Flash player version on your machines ? Which version is currently installed ?

Are they all windows machines ? If yes, which version of windows.?

Thanks!

Here's the Flash Player System Administrator's Guide:

http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/flashplayer/pdfs/flash_player_2...

IE is going to keep the current .ocx file in use, so you have to exit it in order for us to be able to delete the relevant files.

If you really need to avoid that, you'll have to do something clever that works within your application management infrastructure, like write a script that deletes everything but the current version of our OCX file.

We change the name of the .ocx file with each release to get around the limitation where IE is keeping the current version in-use.  This does leave a trail of previous versions, but only the current version should be used.  The alternative is to require the user to exit the browser at install time, which is also an unattractive option.

Actually, the latest Admin Guide is http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/flashplayer/pdfs/flash_player_2...

This is going to be updated soon.  The latest version is always linked to at Adobe Flash Player Administration Guide for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection

"We change the name of the .ocx file with each release to get around the limitation where IE is keeping the current version in-use.  This does leave a trail of previous versions, but only the current version should be used. "

If Flash Player is in use when it is updated, the OCX file in use is marked for deletion upon reboot.  The OP states "multiple versions (14 versions approx) exists on the same machines."  I suspect these are stale OCX files, because only one version can be exist, registered, at a time on a system.

@ajayk12786268, can you please clarify the comment "multiple versions (14 versions approx) exists on the same machines."  I suspect these are stale OCX files, because only one version can be exist, registered, at a time on a system."  What files, exactly, are you referring to?  Can you please post a screenshot of a system with '14 versions'? See How do I attach a screnshot?    Also, note that while you can run the uninstaller silently, if Flash Player is in use uninstallation will fail silently.

No problem.  We appreciate that system administration is a tough job (and plenty of us have worn similar hats over the years), and we make a pretty big investment in providing pain relief for admins to the extent possible.

The big hurdle for most folks is simply finding our resources for administrators.  If you run into issues in the future where you think we can help provide some additional pain relief, or where you find our documentation could be better, please definitely let us know.  We're happy to help make admins' lives easier where we can.

Thanks!
