Vista download issues for Flash player 10

I am running Vista on my desk top and did have Flash Player 10 installed and working fine. It suddenly stopped working and I followed Adobe's trouble shooting guide. That is I used the patch that was provided to uninstall, set the internet security options as instructed, downloaded/installed Flash Player 10 and then used the additional patch for Vista. Flash Player did not work after doing this and a search of my system did not return anything for Flash Player other than the two patches that I had used in the download process indicating that it did not instlall. I have tried several more times to resolve the issue but Adobe just keeps me going through it's endless trouble shooting loop. I still am unable to utilize anything that requires Flash Player since it appears that I am unable to install it. Can anyone help with this problem?

I am also experiencing the same problems with Adobe Flash. I had it, was using it, then it apparently wasn't working anymore as I couldn't do any gaming. I tried Adobe's help page and tried suggested fixes.  I uninstalled Adobe Flash and reinstalled it today. When I check my files, it show Adobe 10.3.181.34 installed on todays date but shows no MB for size. In another place (don't ask me where, I was trying to follow your thread and found it somewhere) it shows I have Shockwave Flash 10.3.181.34 installed. I am running Vista, 32-bit. Mozilla Firefox is my browser, so I had problems finding your suggestions/fixes for Internet Explorer in Windows. I was unable to find things you listed to access. I have Norton security, but it was saying all downloads were safe and nothing popped up to prevent anything. I have pop-ups enabled. In Facebook for Farmville, when I try to access the "update your flash player", it redirects to a page which just remains blank. Nothing happens and a download or update page doesn't appear. Can you give me any suggestions for Firefox. I am pretty much computer dumb, but I can follow the thread and find things pretty well. Thanks if you can provide assistance.

    Sorry, I don't understand this...

What files do you have in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

ok, not to sound really dumb, but I have snooped around in the computer and cannot locate this. Are you able to guide me to where I find this information please? Not as computer savvy as I would like to be, I guess!

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to this location C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

You mentioned that you have a 32-bit system, but just to be sure, also check C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash

If you don't have any of these folders, then Flash Player is not installed on your computer.

Hi, Well, the troubleshooting guide doesn't include all of the possibilities that can occur.

What browser(s) and versions are you using?

    Is your Vista a 64bit?

You need to run as Administrator and that is the top requirement when trying to Install Flash Player.

What Anti-Virus/Firewall program do you use? Some of these can block the Installation of Flash Player.

Did you receive any messages when Uninstalling or Installing?

Do you use any pop up blockers or ad-block?

    Thanks,

    Thanks for getting back,

    - I am using internet Explorer 8, version 8.0.6001.18904

    - I,m not sure how to find out if it is 64bit but I believe it is

    - I am the administrator and all of my attempts to uninstall/install the FP

    were as administrator

    - No messages received while installing/uninstalling

    - pop up blocker before installing FP looked for permission to install DAL

but I do not find it in my system

    - pop up blockers are used but no ad-block

    - FYI my IS and firewall provider is BitDefender

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks. Go up to Help and click on About Internet Explorer and if you see x86 then you are using the 32bit browser.

This is the default and you want to be sure you use that when Installing Flash Player.

It is best to turn off any pop up blocker when Installing FP.

Now I don't know if BitDefender is causing problems with IE/FP or not. But not too long ago, it was certainly causing a major problem with Firefox and Flash Player.

At this point you may want to go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash  Right click on the Flash folder and post back all files listed there.

Then go to All add ons and find Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx. It must be there and enabled.

If anything different I need to know that also.

Post the Flash files and the add on info back.

    Thanks,
